Old xbox problem please help!!

0k today i decided i was goin to play fable on my old xbox, because my brother was playing on the 360, anyway when i go to insert my game into the console and as it starts the load this thing pops up that says:

your xbox cant reconize this disc. make sure its and xbox game, dvd movie or audio cd. Also check to see if the disc is dirty or damaged. remove the disc to continue

and than i decided to put another game disc in to see if it was just that disc but the same thing poped up with all 3 trys with diffrent games, than i tried cleaning the disc, it was free of smuges and scratches but the same thing popped up, i was hoping any of you guys had any ideas what do you think? please help :(

your old xbox is not reliable any more its probabl too old as in not workin just forget the xbox and play on 360 cuz its gonna work better
