Attach your Wireless Router to your Xbox instead. Plug in the usual cables, like the Ethernet and Phone Line and you should be good to go.

I just shelled out for the wireless adapter the day I got my 360. Also, the reason that it is saying IP adress failed is because your computer shares the same IP address as the one that would be used by the 360. This is why it is failing.

pay 50$ and buy a xbox 1 wireless adapter which works and then you will be good. Or directly connect with internet cable

Yup, this also works. I had an xbox 1 adapter before I just shelled 100 bones to get the 360 one because it looks better and saves room/ doesnt need a power supply.

And you could probably get one second hand for like 25 bucks.Another alternative is looking for a 360 wireless adapter second hand; you could snag one for like 40 bucks.

In order to accomplish what you're doing, you need to set up ICS(Internet connection sharing) on the PC and set the ethernet adapter as a bridge.

Pelican sells 2 25 foot Ethernet cables and a connector to make them 50 feet put together. I found one last week at Best Buy for $ 20.99, I think. That's how I have mine hooked up, although I have to disconnect it every time I'm not using it, seeing as I've already broken my elbow into like 6 pieces because of a wire. (In case you didn't figure it out, I'm a completel klutz...)
