it really does depend on the mistakes you make. While, sure you maybe pretty good, but if your throwing a gernaid and hitting all your buddys...well man, maybe i'd curse at you too. Really though, the big picture is that gamers take their games to seriously...you say its only halo, but it's in every compettitive game...you may not see it as much, and its proabably because halo attracts a much larger crowd of people, so you have all the racists, and douche bags. Dont really think into it too much...instead laugh in their face, and gets some friends to do it too. It's much more fun that way!
PLAY GAMES FOR FUN....keep it chill!
If you are saying there is no problem with little kids in GeOW you are crazy. That kid was infested with 12 year olds screaming at the top of their lungs back in the day. For the most part though, I haven't had any problem with the online community for Halo 3. When a problem does arise though, Bungie made muting people easy for me so I do it. =DDarkRider23

So you haven't played Halo 2? Halo 3, right now is a lot better than Halo 2 (i would probably say 3x better). SO far i have only been in mabye 3-5 games (out of about 120) that were bad. One was bad because i had just recently played a guy and then met him again in a new game. I said i didn't want to play him because it was a close match (i didn't want to really get all tense because of a close battle... i wanted to relax) and he started saying how we should 1v1 and how he would kick my a**. Then everytime he killed me and just started screaming (i can hear him when he is that close).
To be fully honest though the only bad games i have found have been in Social Matches. I have met one younger kid with a screechy voice, but he is now on my friends list because he wasn't annoying at all and was actually cool.
I would say play more ranked matches, but yea Halo does have a bad community, but trust me there is a difference between PC - 360 games. A lot of poeple who play Counter-Strike may not have a headset while everyone that plays Halo online pretty much does. Hell i have met completely racist people in Warcraft 3 (of course i led him to believe i was Polish, but it was still racism on his part).
Its a problem for sure, but if I want to trash talk when I play Halo 3 I usually just call my buddy. We go around in a party and diss each other so much, but it's still really fun. When I get on the mic, I tend to be calm and mild... unless a bunch of friends are there egging me on to say something OR someone in the game is being THE BIGGEST __________ *Blank* ever.... which happens a lot -_-'
So yeah, I only do that kinda stuff when other people are doing it, and (I hope this is ok to say) I usually just yell at them to shut the (insert word of choice here) up.
I actually think things have improved since Halo 2. You can now easily mute screaming kids - they usually start their "smack talk" in the lobby, and you can mute them directly from there before you even start the game. Once you get to higher levels you tend to get less brats too. I'm at level 28 in Lone Wolves, and most guys there are just looking for competitive games. No kids, no casuals calling you a noob, no screaming nutcases/methheads.
I actually think the worst thing about Halo 3's matchmaking right now is that achievements are only available in Lone Wolves. It means that once every ten games or so you get one or two idiots who don't actually play and spend their whole time trying to artificially get Achievements. If they were available in every game type, this wouldn't happen. It would be much easier to get Steppin Razor or whatever if you were up against a team of six instead of just four other guys.
oh, its never been the trash talk that's bothered me - what i hate are the racist and homophobic comments...if some of these yahoos said these things in real life, they'd get their block knocked off. but i guess the anonymity of online play just provides that outlet. oh, well, like other posters in this thread have stated, use the mute button, and don't take it too seriously.
oh, and i do agree, Gears had a pretty bad group, too. although i ran in to less of them than i do now in Halo 3.
Exagerating topic creator exagerates.the_leet_kidLol, he's far from exaggerating. Not that I care though. As many have said, just mute them. Then get yourself some friends.
COD 4 had the same kind of people while I was playing last night. It's just the way the world is. It has nothing to do with Halo. Get over it and just mute them..
No one is forcing you to play the game.
And I disagree with every point you fail to make.

um, okay, i said that Halo 3 has a bunch of jerks playing online. the majority of the posters here agreed. i've heard the N word orf**at least half a dozen times since i picked the game up. i think that behavior is reprehensible, so i posted a topic about it. the game is great, so i willingly play online and mute players that i don't want to hear. how did i fail to make a point? its not like a came in witha pie chart ofbadonline behavior broken down by game. i saidit SEEMS like a terrible online community from my current experiences. i mean, do you enjoylistening to a 15 year old kid with a Napolean complexscreaming expletivesover the headset and offering absolutely nothing constructive in terms of mission objectives or gameplan?i know i had better manners and common courtesywhen i was that age.isn't it a game that people want to win and build rank? how does offensive behavior help that?
