I think it could be the next WoW if they do it right....IF....they do it right. Which will be hard. But I'm hoping for the best. Hard_TargetWe don't need another WoW, the only company that could outdo WoW is Blizzard themselves. No other company has the know-how or capabilities to make a better MMO than WoW.
Arena can have online, so you can show off your god character but I think there shouldn't be Co-op.Conroi58They couldn't do this if it's multi-platform. The PC has too many mods and such to be able to do that, and they will make the next one multi-platform. Co-op might work and it would be fun, but that's probably the only thing that would work.

Why would they make the next one multi-platform? There are many games released on the PC and Xbox that arent compatible.. so far the only one that is online compatible was shadowrun which was far from successful so where is the developers cash incentive to go down that road. In fact they probable wouldnt just so that people with friends on PC and 360 would buy both versions just so they could play with either group of friends.
For mods( this would only work if it was purely arena battles) just force the player into weapon/armour selection before going in and only allow official equipment.
And as for WOW... there are lots of companies up to the challenge.. take a look at CCP and the technology and skill that goes into keeping EVE Online up and running. The only thing you could possibly argue is that WOW has the best storyline/world but there are plenty of people that would disagree with that too. Domm reigned for years and years.. then along came half-life. the same will happen to WOW.

This topic was about Elder Scrolls 5, not World of Warcraft. Can we keep it about Elder Scrolls?
Getting back on topic, I think the Elder Scrolls games should remain single player EXCEPT for Co-op exploration. I think allowing 2 players over system link/Online to play would be an interesting idea. Think of it this way. You have a dog in Fable 2/Fallout 3 or you have a follower in Oblivion, now give that follower/dog a human voice and (hopefully) greater intelligence to the point to where they're not in your way and tehy're about to be a decent fighter. It would be an interesting idea that could open up alot of new ideas to the Elder Scrolls World.
And you could even do a "Finder's Keeper's System" where the loot is given to whoever finds the loot, or you can do Fable 2's "Share" system where one player gets 1/2 the experience or gold while the other player will get experience and gold fitting to thier level.

Elder Scrolls is an RPG. The day it becomes and MMO or adds some weird version of co-op, I'm not buying it.greedomI couldn't agree any more with that. Well said. There is no reason for this game to be co-op. Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion are all great games that I have played. I tried playing Arena but the game kept freezing on me so I can't say I've played ALL the Elder Scrolls games, but as a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, I see no reason to include multiplayer or co-op. The Elder scrolls has also been about the story, the action, and heroism. You're just one person in a large world with all the freedom to do whatever you wish. It's YOUR experience. It's YOUR choices. Bethesda just needs to keep doing what they do best and that is making incredible one player games. I love playing games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion because it's a game I can play on my own. I can do just about whatever I want at any pace I want. If I don't want to do the main story right away, I don't have to. The great thing about games like Morrowind and Oblivion is that there is always somewhere to go and something to explore. Are there ways to improve the next Elder Scrolls game? Yes. Is co-op and multiplayer a way to improve the game? No. Keep it a single player experience. Keep the Elder Scrolls series close to its' roots. It's a reason why this series works. Final Fantasy and Fable tried to make their games multiplayer/co-op. Look how that turned out for them. Sometimes, having multiplayer, isn't always a good thing.
It would be awesome as an MMO, as long as it's not subscription.
It should also give you the choice of whether to play online or local.
MMO or not I still can't wait for Elder Scrolls 5 though.

Even though I don't wont to bring up an old thread like this, (Google Search) I feel I should put in my input. This game can definitly be co-op with one other person without hurting the single player experience/immersiveness.
All they would have to do is make everything real-time, so the game doesn't pause when another player needs to access his inventory. Thats why there's the d-pad for quick access. Same thing with resting. Why not put an option where both players have to agree to rest? Then for fast-travel, just create a "teleport to friend" scroll/spell.
For every problem there's a solution.
If you still think this will hurt the single player, shut up. You have the option to NOT play it co-op.
To all the players who would not purchase this game, because it has some form of multiplayer, Yeah, thats a lie.
I think a game series like Elder scrolls deserves MMO,Fighting in the arena againt other people would be cool, especially if other players could watch and bet on the fights too.Raiding towns with a group would be cool too.Player killing would be cool as long as you can't kill them in towns.Pickpocket other players.Haha make your own guild would be AWESOME!Train other players more skills.Trading would bea HUGE improvment. They would have to work on connection problems.I think MMO for a great RPG series like this would be amazingly great.
And the idea of Local Co-op in Oblivion makes me feel sick, Fable 2's was a travesty, I wouldn't like to see Bethesda repeat their terrible mistake.

Local co-op sounds horrible but i would love online co-op.

Better company equals better results. Never liked Fable to much. To quick to be a single player game and to many empty promises.
I think local co-op could work if done correctly. Would be hard though in an open world game. Online co-op though would work best.

Well, if online co-op seems like a good idea then what would be wrong with a full-blown MMO?

The problem is that most people think that if Elder Scrolls become an MMO it would end their precious series. When in fact it would be a seperate side project within the universe of Elder Scrolls, not part of Elder Scrols V, VI, VII, ect.

1. Singleplayer games revolve around you and MMOs revolve around the whole community. 2. Unless the game is incredibly great I really don't want to spend $15 a month on it not to mention if I ever just wanna pop it in and play for a little bit I can't unless I want to pay $15 for a month. 3. An MMO could be fun but I have never been able to enjoy one yet. Though these are just speculation and it could go either way.[QUOTE="Midders"][QUOTE="craigalan23"]

This is a benefit if anything, plus 'soloing' is an option if you really care about it 'revolving around you'.
2. Guild Wars' devs pulled off no monthly fees, why couldn't Bethesda?
3. Personal opinion, I suppose.
These are all just speculations as well, but with so many MMO's before, and Bethesda themselves being a veteran company, I don't see why they couldn't take note of other MMO's that have failed and succeeded before them and make one great one.
I think it should be single player only. I just don't know how I think it would do as a multiplayer. I could see doing arenas online, but other than that I just don't think it will work. Keep it single player, and keep it awesome.
co-op please... having a friend with you on your journy makes everything better. well not everything but in a game that takes 200+ hrs it wouldn't hurt have other human there with you
While I'd love having a mmo game on my 360, and TES is mmo material, I think online play would ruin the game, so keep it single player only!
aan online arena where players can verse each other and bet on other matches and co-op for the rest of the game
