are there any open world shooters like GTA or RDR? Not Far Cry 3 please..writtinvery very few. I cant think of any (other than a few RPG's). But there are some large area linear games, Crysis 2 being the most popular, the upcoming Bioshock Infinite ups the ante by featuring a skyline and verticle level designs, pretty hott stuff. Thats the best I can do, Happy Holidays !
The Saints Row series, Just Cause 2 and Red Faction: Guerrilla are the ones that spring immediately to mind when someone says they want a game similar to GTA's open world/sandbox style.thedarklinglordPlayed Saints Row 2, Just Cause 2, and have seen people play red faction but never played it myself. Is RF Guerilla the best in the series?

Is RF Guerilla the best in the series? I'd say Red Faction: Guerrilla is the best of the series, but that's definitely subjective. Though, it is, I believe, the only one that fits your criteria of open world like GTA. The first two (on the PS2), from what I recall, and Armageddon are more linear, first-person shooters. If you haven't already, you might also check out Crackdown and its sequel. If you have a PS3, you could also check out the Yakuza series, though they're definitely not for everyone. Sadly, it's kinda slim pickings for really good, or at least stupid fun, open world games. At least there'll be GTAV in a few more months.
The Saboteur, The Godfather 2 and Mercenaries 2 could all fit into that category. All fairly decent games with The Saboteur being my pick of the three.
Almost forgot about a little game called Sleeping Dogs. Awesome game.;)

I think I played Crackdown at a friends house but you know how accurate "I think" statements are... I had a PS3 and REALLY considering buying a new one...
I'll look up sleeping dogs - the saboteur is the game about blowing up nazi's right? I will check that as well - godfather 2 i didn't know was open world but worth a look as well and I have played mercs 2 but that was...eh...3-4 years agoThe Saboteur, The Godfather 2 and Mercenaries 2 could all fit into that category. well dead island is kind of a shooter once you get guns. i had alot of fun with that game it was a great open worl game in general
Can't believe I forgot to add this to my list. Yes it is quite decent.I've heard Mafia 2 is fairly decent but I've never played it.
MentatAssassin
Fallout 3 and New Vegas. If you can run them on Med/High graphics on PC, go with that. 360 controller compatable, and you can get thousands of mods for 'em
I ended up getting the saboteur mainly because right after christmas the $10 it cost me at gamestop was definately in my price range, I will be getting more after I "finish" the saboteur(if it is truely open world finishing it completely will be fun with all the areas at your disposal)writtinI ended up picking up Saboteur last Xmas. I just didn't think it was a game I would like but was pleasantly surprised how much fun I had with it. Good game indeed. Enjoy!

My interest is getting peaked on this one. Does anyone know if there is a version of the game that has all the DL content?
