Well, I finally picked up a surround sound system (Yea, Im late on these things lol...) but Im having one problem.

I bought a Digital Optical cable, hoping to get 5.1 sound from my 360, but when I try to put the cable into the extension of the 360 AV cable, it just pops out. It wont stay in the slot. It doesn't pop out from my PS3 or TV. Do I need to buy some sort of special optical cable for the 360 or is my entire AV cable ****ed?

Thanks.

umm, it just plugs in dude, maybe push a little harder to get it to "clip" in. thats all I can think of. I know at first mine didnt seem like it wanted to go in but didnt until I pushed harder.

Trust me, if I pushed any harder, Id probably brake the casing or something. It just wont stay in. Im probably just gona buy a new cable, because I only get sound from the right side of my surround system through the red/white cables unless I hold push/hold the cable into the console.

Should I just buy another pair of the official MS cables?

I dont know if this makes a difference, but the AV cables im using came with my Launch console. Maybe the ports got upgraded in the 2 years that its been out?

Im using the launch cables. 3rd party average priced optical cable.

mind you I bought it (the optical cable) 1.5 years after I got my 360.

the same thing happened to me when i tried to put in the optical cable in my 360. look at the tips of the cable, is there a translucent rubber/plastic tip on the end (covering the part the light actually comes out)? if so, thats just a cover and its supposed to be taken out. thats the thing that actually makes the cable pop out. once you take those off (both ends) it should fit perfectly in your 360. hope that helps you, it worked for me.... and yes, i felt really really really stupid afterwards
