IGN gave Mass Effect 9.4 and many other websites have given it 9.0 or above, except Gamespot. If you check the 'Other Reviews' tab then you will see for yourself.

If he doesn't like RPGs and he doesn't like science-fiction then he should NOT be reviewing the game.

This is an embarrassment to the gaming community. People will not take GS scores seriously.

I am totally appalled by the the very harsh review. Even if the game has annoying menu screens, that doesn't mean you have to punish Bioware by giving the game 8.5

If Greg Kasavin was here he would have given the game at least 9.0 score. Also if Jeff Gerstman reviewed this game he would have given it a 9.0, but NO it had to be Kevin.

I personally think that it takes some courage to review a game and give your honest opinion, even if it differs from almost everyone else. I don't think this will ruin gamespot's credibility. People rely too much on other people's opinions these days. Try it for yourself and decide. Don't rely on other people to tell you what you should and shouldn't play.

I don't ever take a review for what it's worth. I know the game has afew problems, but people have been praising it outside of that.

Play the game yourselfand have your own opinion on it. Reviews scores only really matter if you're on the fence about buying it, and even then you should always check at metacritic first.

The guy who reviewed ME knows absolutely nothing abot RPGs

GameSpot you really pissed me off this time

ME deserves at LEAST a 9.5 and should be GOTY ( not that crappy FPS Halo 3 )

Just look at these other great reviews:

I think the best review you can get is the one you yourself will give. These reviews are just meant to be a guide, and theres no doubting its a good game, so what im doing is just taking that fact from the reviews. ME is a good game. the most important review is the one ill give it when ive played through it. Remember reviews are just one persons opinion, and you must realise that 8.5 isn't all that bad, just not as good as your expectations / other sites

Please everyone... stop complaining. You're just wasting your time. I didn't know gamers complained as much as they did until I came on these forums..

Holy hell, not another one of these topics... When did people start thinking that 8.5 is such a horrible score?!?! I mean jesus, 8 and above is more than respectable. And you have to fully read the review to understand where the score comes from. He clearly states that the game is excellent, but could have used more polish. Clipping issues, pop-up and draw-in; things like that should really be things of the past... Yet they raise their ugly heads here, as with so many 'next-gen' games. I agree completely with the review score, based solely on the fact that although the game sounds great, there are justifiable reasons for lowering the score. Personally a game could be the best game out there, but if there are issues with characters getting stuck in level (and sometimes enemy) geometry, and even outright crashing issues at rare points, then obviously the game should have spent a small time longer in development. Clipping especially is an error that can be rectified rather easily, if the company is willing to spend a ittle more time at it, instead of pushing for the given release window no matter what the cost.

Why do peopleb*** and moan whenever a game gets less than a 9? 7.5+ is a GOOD score. Just go play the game for yourself. If you know it's good, why do you care?

I think the thing that's bothering some of us is that our favorite game won't be GOTY here, as though that means something in the grand scheme of things. Personally, Itypically disagree with Kevin, so this is nothing new. One of my favorite games got a 4.9 by this joker. Didn't stop me from enjoying it though.
