A good insight into what the beta will offer. Looking forward to May 3rd.

Joystiq also has some nice footage ofHalo Reach
I'm definitely going to checkout GB though. Thanks for posting it.
There's a ton of videos on gametrailers too. I've got to say though, not very impressed with what I saw. For Halo fans I guess it's great, but to me it looks very much like more of the same and visually I find it rather dull. I really expected this to be something impressive, something to draw in new fans that looked cutting edge. I just kind of see another Halo, which I know is fine for tons of gamers, but I'm pretty disappointed. All this time working on it - I expected a lot more.albatrossdrumsGee, Halo looks like Halo, I wonder why.. What were you expecting, a kart racer? I hate when people say "it still looks like [insert game here]" as if you were expecting some major overhaul.

I'm waiting for Halo to give me a reason to start playing it again. Some people expect hugely successful franchises to make more of an effort to be cutting edge and deliver more than just the same thing over and over with minor improvements, especially when they have all the support and money they could possibly want. Some people don't. I don't think there is anything wrong with being disappointed in a series choosing to not make any bold advances, or to match the bar being set by other games graphically, or at least to bring some innovation of some kind. Sure Halo is Halo, but I'm disappointed they are not more imaginative or ambitious in what they set out to do. I mean, there are only so many legendary video game franchises, I'm still surprised they don't do so much more with it. I kind of see them running over the same ground with no great aspiration, other than to bring in elements of other games.

With all that's going on with the physics and lighting engine, plus 4 player splitscreen, its hard to make it a graphical beast.

On the contrary, the differences between every Halo game have been vast, but you'd have to be a Halo fan to actually appreciate them.
Everybody else sees them as very subtle and minor while the PS3 heads have come to the conclusion that they are all the EXACT same, as if to say Xbox owners are stupid enough to buy the " same game " 3 or 4 four times over because of " the overration " and " hype ".
Pure BS.

I'll back you up albatrossdrums. I loved and played Halo:CE all through high school. I loved playing Halo 2 online, but then after that it just became the same. Yes I know it is Halo, but like albatross said where is the innovation and advancement in the series? Especially with the time and budget they have. Oh well, hopefully Reach will be good and I'm sure a lot of people will love it, but as for meI am not quite sold yet.
Well, Halo's sales figures speak for themselves - I'm just looking at it as a long time gamer who kind of feels like they have under achieved. I know that I and the other poster who responded are in a small minority in that opinion, no doubt and I am trying to be clear that I don't think my or any opinion is the "right" one. I guess it's that on both consoles I've seen some amazing things come and go this generation as Halo has continued (Wars aside) to kind of do the same thing. You may be right that I just don't appreciate the subtleties as many fans of the series do - I guess I just feel like with all the potential that is there, they seem a bit stuck in their own time warp. This might be a quality I would like very much in another game or series, but with Halo I feel like it's just a lack or ambition or imagination, or they are playing it too safe... or something.Everybody else sees them as very subtle and minor while the PS3 heads have come to the conclusion that they are all the EXACT same, as if to say Xbox owners are stupid enough to buy the " same game " 3 or 4 four times over because of " the overration " and " hype ".

Well, if Halos not for you, it's hardly your fault and thats fine.
And don't think for a second that I believe Halo is the be all and end all of games. I honestly believe theres better games out there, but Halo holds a special place in my heart. I'd still play it even if nobody else did and it was somehow a flop. I think Halo is fantastic but not perfect but I would also never go on on to say it's overrated or anything because of its pure brilliance. Put it this way - I agree with all the Metacritic scores. Look em up.
And thats because I honestly believe they deserve them and not because I'm some ignorant little fanboy who wants Halo to beat the next PS3 exclusive. I genuinely love all the games. Even ODST.
It's a pity you didn't jump on the Halo bandwagon near the beginning mate, because then maybe you'd understand peoples passion for them.
But as I said, there ARE better games out there. They're just not for me..:P

I agree. Im glad Bungie kept the same game play mechanics that we are all grew to love since halo 1 then made advancements in weapons, game types, advanced matchmaking features, theater mode...etc. it could be disasterous to completely revamp a game and make bold advances. Need for speed comes to mind as a series that wanted to be innovative but i didnt care for the sim style. bring back the cop chases.
Why would you want Halo's gameplay to change completely, It's already great, I'd rather have minor improvments every year than mess up the whole gameplay, look at what happened to Gears 2, Epic completely ruined it by adding so many things, instead of improving it, they completely ruined a perfect game, specially the multiplayer, I guess thats why Bungie doesn't take that risk with Halo like Epic did with Gears.
