i would say up until the release of re4 for the wii i would have went with the pc but after playing it i am a changed man i can see that the controller will espeacilly change how fps games are played
coolcole1
I forgot to mention the W. It's starting to bridge the gap.
PC, and the most common arguments against it are terrible.
Rather play it on your TV? Then do so, I have enjoyed many an hour playing WOW, RB6V etcthrough my HDTV. Prefer a controller? Most PC shooters support controllers and it is becoming even more common for PC games to actually support the use of the 360 controller. Throw in the bonus of great online and player mods and its a no brainer.
Console shooters.
Because compared to PC shooters, you need alot of money to afford a P.C, you also need alot of patience while the game downloads to your P.C.
For consoles like the 360, all you have to do is put the game in, connect to your account (xbox live) on the 360, and there you go, just wait for the game to load (takes 10 seconds) and after that all you have to do is play. P.C shooters have way too many controls and it gets complicated, console shooters are not complicated.
Console shooters are better.
But aren't commonly accepted as so because the first FPS that were popular were released on PC's and ever since then everyone's been. ZOMG.. pc shooters better than console shooters.
nope.
just how the world works. people prefer what they know first.
PC
People who say otherwise just dont know :P
I am not a PC fanboy, I have a 360 (and many other consoles since the Atari). I think consoles do sports, arcade, platforming, adventure (arguable, pc has had some greats, but adventure games on pc has been slim lately), and games like that better.
PC has better FPS, RTS (obviously), RPG, Racing Sims, Flight Sims, and MMO's.
And if $$$ is part of your reasoning, that's idiotic. I spent $900 on my computer (and it plays games on max) in the last 3 years. My 360 cost close to $600 with all the asssesories. Plus, add in the cost of a good tv (sorry kiddies, just becuase your parents bought it doesn't mean its free), and the cost sky rockets.
Hmmm lemme see...
1. Hunching in front of a smaller computer screen at a desk using two hands spread out uncomfortably and trying to control the foot movement with the WASD keys (which sucks, IMO).
OR
2. Kicking back comfortably on my couch playing shooter games on my 52" HDTV, with a nice, comfy controller resting in both hands in my lap.
UMMMM....
HANDS DOWN - CONSOLE SHOOTERS F.T.W. !!!
well when it comes to gamming and i speak from over 2 decades of experience, one isnt really better than the other, well except for RTS games, mouse and keyboard are better, but that being said the devs. are doing a great job on the controller end of that genre as well.
now one is not vastly better that is a total misconception, you can get just as good with one as you can the other, just the controller to me makes you feel like your actually in the game more, the mouse and keyboard well it just feels asif you justscroll across the screen. now i dont like auto-aim... period on any game, halo's magnetic sighting is the closest i will ever get to using auto-aim because i never found a way to turn it off.
now i have pc-gamed for a long time, doom, duke nukem, blood, shadow warrior, unreal, quake, and i have console gamed since the freaking atari, and i can get just as good with the controller as i can a mouse and keyboard, if i choose to. but some of you pc geeks will say "oh thats just because you suck at pc gamming," lol shows what you know i have played more pc games than most of you will ever know about. its all a matter of preference. which to you feels better, for me a controller feels way better, because a mouse and keyboard feel too generic for my tastes.
Why doesn't everyone just pick consoles because of the better graphics and sounds?
CALL OF DUTY 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For gameplay I would go with PC sense you aim better. For price I would go to console sense it is cheaper and you don't need to upgrade you PC a lot.klusps
correction aim easier, not better, one makes the mistake of saying better, because most dont put out the effort to get better at controllers.
just because something is easier doesnt make it better. but i can understand you all though, most people just dont realize this.

Its more accurate. If the controller had the same level of accuracy they would not include auto-aim as a standard feature in console FPS games.as someone mentioned earlier, the WASD control screme is not the best/most confortable way to control a game. though a m/k gives you the ability to play with either hand (for the lefties out there) the consoles are getting into that pretty well.
i wish they would make a compromise between the m/k and the controller. i imagine a device some what like the nunchuck atatchment for the Wii but a mouse for your other hand. if they could add some montion sensitivity to the nunchuck part that could add to it's functionality there by helping out with the loss of buttons having no keybaord would cause.
i can see a controll sceme with atleast 10 "buttons", three on the lower part of the nunchuck (instead of two like the Wii's), and a button on either side of the analog stick. that makes 5.
then you could have atleast 5 buttons on the mouse to work with not counting a mouse wheel. and with the movement and camera angle controlled completely with the analog stick and the mouse you would be hard pressed to use all the other 10 buttons for most games. yeah i know "hotkeys" are great and all but for the average game you probably wont need more then 10.
i dunno, i would atleast like to put my controller to then test but since im not an enginere i'll have to hope that some company eventually tries this.

Its more accurate. If the controller had the same level of accuracy they would not include auto-aim as a standard feature in console FPS games.no its just easier to get better on, and auto-aim is not used as much as you guys think it is. and like i said to me it feels as if im just scrolling across the screen where as in the contoller i feel more like im actually in the games. now im not here to offend pc users, i use to be one, until now that they want an arm and a leg to stay up to date. the controller can be used just as well if you put enough time into it. thats what im saying. and yes it takes alot longer to get good using a controller vs. the mouse and keyboard but look at what all you use the mouse and keyboard for. like this forum and site for example. but if given the right amount of time, it will grow to the point of where there isnt much difference between them.

It is more accurate.lol look we obviously disagree here, or are just not understanding one another, prolly a little of both, but think what you want and i will think what i want. but i will try to restate it clearer this time..... its you can get more accurately (faster) on a mouse and keyboard but given the time if you exert to both, the difference will not be that noticable. but thats the last time im saying it, but im tired of arguing over this lol i have to go to a few other topics then get some sleep for i work tommorow, so good hunting (on a game) dont go stabbing some nurse in some hospital like that kid did and blamed it on manhunt2, lol :P no im just kidding, but peace.
I play both...
Most recently I've been playing MW2 on 360... This is one of the first games I've apted to go to 360 over PC on.
Aiming... speed twitch accuracy and skill... you will shine way better on PC everytime, no question without a doubt.
The next time you turn a corner in a console shooter and a second later you get shot in the head... be thankful your not on PC.. cause same game on PC the mother **** would have clocked you as soon as you stick your head out...
On PC you can jump.. turn 180 degree's blast a punk in the face faster then you can use the "analog stick" to use set speed to focus on a target.. FACT
On PC the faster you move the mouse the faster your ass moves... There aren't set speeds for how you can move. If you wanna spin a 720 stop on a dime and blast someone in the mouth you can do that.
If you see cross platform games where PC is put against console there is no hint of a doubt in my mind at all that PC would dominate the console bunnies into a corner till they cried....
THAT SAID
I'm playing on console now... the best argument I can give "FOR" console is that everyone's equal... equal controls, equal hardware, and to shine on console it does take skill and the simple fact of the matter is that it's different... there is no other way to put it. ... differen't...
If you like more time to aim and move, go console all the way,
If your a twitch shooter that wants to move at the speed of light... PC
Both have their place and both are fun.
Overall I give the torch to PC as being "BETTER" but console is still fun and has had my interest here recently in that it's less expensive to maintain.
Hardware requirements for PC to achieve sick framerates and smooth gameplay are always raising.
Tech Junkies will often choose PC over Console.
It's great that consoles are there for those that aren't tech savy.
This topic is going to go nowhere. Obviously people have thier preferences in which is better. However, I don't think anyone can deny that playing with a mouse is much more precise than playing on a 360 analog. And to coolcole1, please use punctuations.Guannoboy
nicely put because a mouse is def more accurate and quicker but i perfer a controller in hand even if i gamed on a pc i would use a controller. That would eliminate online for me because i would be at a disadvantage.
I simply have to ask how you dug up a thread from the summer of 2007. How?I play both...
