People here really need to stop bashing Gears 2

Up until this weekend I would have probably agreed with you, but after this weekend, I am afraid that I am going to complain a little about Gears. Over the weekend, I downloaded the new maps - firstly 800 points for only 3 new maps is not good IMO. I then tried to play some games on those new maps, but I really struggled to get a game. The download seems to have resolved the wait to get in to the game, but the addition of new achievements seems to have created an altogether bigger and more frustrating monster! That of the early quitter! :(

I would say about 50% of the games I tried to get in to at the weekend suffered from people quitting early so that one team is left severely disadvantaged with maybe only 3-4 players or in some occassions only 2 players. At one point on Saturday I tried to get in to a game three times in a row only to lose connection to the host, presumably because they had quit because it wasn't Annex or a game on the map that they haven't won on yet. It was really frustrating - to add to my disappointment, I lost rank because of all the early quitters which really ****** me off. :evil:

I don't like online achievements purely for this reason - I love achievements, but online ones just turn people in to selfish ********. NOT HAPPY! :(

funnily enough a forum is a place for people to express their opinions, if u dont agree with them fine, say it in a nice way when they state, but back up your words. i think the game is amazing WHEN IT DOESNT LAG, unfortunately that seems to be a rare thing and thus the game annoys me (being in australia it takes .5-1 whole second from when the gun is fired to when the bullets actually meet their target). and for the record i dont mind being killed in any other way EXCEPT CHAINSAW, i cannot stand that weapon, if u use it (other than the rare occasion when there is no time to change weapons or are backed into a corner) then in my opinion you are a noobchaoscougar1

When Gears runs well (which is about half the time in my opinion) it is quite fun. Shoot people, they die. The problem starts with the invincible host/unplayable lag issues. Other games lag as well but one can usually make due while getting a few kills. In Gears, though, your shots simply don't count...and then you get one-shotted from twenty feet. Under optimal conditions, Gears is definitely a solid game but if you can only get that optimal performance around half the time, it just gets old really quickly.

I don't see how anyone can put up with that proximity grenade crap. It nearly breaks the game. Seriously, can anyone on this board give a reasoned explanation for why these should be in the game???RebornInFlames

people have too short attention spans that if something doesnt satisfy them instantly they throw it off as bad or dumb its just the curse of our dumb society and if something has any errors in it at all people only look at them instead of looking at the good in thingsarmyman455

Why not bash Gears 2, considering the online play is complete garbage? Lag, cheats, and little kids who shouldn't even be on the game make the online experience a nightmare. Sadly enough, the first Gears is a whole lot better than the second. Gears 2 brings almost nothing new to the series, it feels just like playing the first one with new maps. According to my tag the last time I played Gears 2 was December 29th, and it's been sitting on my shelf collecting dust ever since. What a disappointment.PJthePlayer

Actually that's what I wanted for it, just like the first one with new maps and weapons. In fact if they did that now and scrapped all the gameplay changes from the first I would shut up and hop online. Instead they decide they need to remove any skill from the game and 'overhaul' the gameplay in a manner that is similar to replacing a Ferrari's engine with a Geo motor with a cracked engine block.
