Go to target or walmart and buy an xbox with cash. You can keep that xbox for up to 3 months without the receipt expiring. Make sure you keep all the plastic and box. When it's time to take it back just tell them you recieved one as a gift or bought it for someone. Most of the time they have no clue what is even supposed to be in the box. Take the money and buy another one at a different store. This way you get a new xbox with a new receipt. Pay with cash that way they really don't have info on you. Sounds like a hassle but it's really easy to do and you only have to do it 4 times a year. It's nice getting a new xbox and you never have to worry about RROD or shipping your broken one.

Why don't you stop being a tightass and just buy a 360.

Apart from being a tightass that theory fails - because if lots of people did it, then you wouldn't be getting a brand new 360 - you'd just be getting one of the 360s returned by someone else.

Just because its been returned doesn't mean they won't sell it again.

the thing is lots of people don't do it and if you bought an xbox that looks like it was opened you tell them you want a different one it's that simple. My buddy is a dumbass but I must give him credit he has been doing this since 2006 ever since his first xbox got the RROD. Don't they send you a refub one anyway through xbox. That would make me mad.

Or you could just buy one and enjoy it.

That "solution" is far from perfect. Unless you enjoy spending half of your life running from one shop to another. In that case it would be nearly perfect indeed.

Oh stop being cheap and take a risk on the one you purchase. My perfect solution is to have both consoles. When one malfunctions, you have another to keep you busy until the malfunctioned one returned.
