pissed with xbox360 repair service

ok i called the xbox hotline and i told the guy my 360 has had the red lights of death and that i had freezing issues
he tells me that hell have to charge me 50 dollars because my warranty expired last month (my 1 year warranty) but i retort what about the 3 year warranty? I had the red lights its free he gives me some **** about it having to display the red lights on the work bench or testing??

what is this guys true or false? Im pissed i want my damn hard earned money back, i was promised i wouldnt pay anything yet here i am paying up front for them to just send out the box to ship it in..

I think you got ripped off. My warranty didn't expire but I'm not using it because it's not needed since my only problem is the three red lights and I didn't have to pay jack ***.

GRRRRR and you know the worst part was i could hardly understand the idiot through his thick accent.... grrr i posted this on the xbox forums too im waiting for it to be approved for veiwing by the mods (just how it works over there) so hopefully ill get my money back

open it up and replace the thermal paste :P or just continue to complain and complain. if you're with your parents still.. get them in on the moaning and complaining; generally works. good luck man, MS customer support is teh lame.

forgot.. most of the time ppl don't realize the problem with their 360's.. ROD... is just overheating..rather than hardware failure.. because the paste has absorbed all the heat it could handle and is no longer worth a damn. as a last resort if you can't get MS to replace it.. find someone who is computer savvy and have them replace the cpu/gpu thermal paste with some arctic silver thermal paste.. i promise it'll work. ;) but like i said.. last resort.

I live in the Netherlands and my experiece with the repair service is flawless. Ups picked up the package at my home and a week later my baby was back and i could continue with Gears of War. The repair/shipment didn't cost a thing.

So if the customer has a "three flashing red light" issue, we'll repair the console free of charge. Now, that's including shipping, for three years from the purchase date. So, whenever you purchased it, you've got a three-year warranty from that date for this particular issue."

So did the phone person say they'd test the console and if it has 3 red lights they'd pay you back for the shipping?

service in the UK to me has been pretty good all round, i got a replacement unit in 6 days after sending it in.

IM calling in at 8 am pacific time and getting my money back, having my console repaired for free and having the idiot who lied to me fired or demoted, perhaps ill stream the convo over TFC in the jigglypuff server .... yes that would be most amusing i think

I called in and they reversed the charges and have agreed to repair my 360 free of charge :-) so im happy !
