32" because you'll want 1080p. You'll be shelling out more than $600 though. But whatever you do, get anything with 1080p. You're getting better quality overall.

But ive seen 26 inch tvs that says they display 1080p, but besides that i also heard that the diffrence between 720p and 1080p isnt that much.

You can get a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV with 720p. Runs about $700 if you purchase it online. It's $100-$200 more at a retail store. This is a great looking TV, that's if you're willing to settle for 720p. Hope this helps.

Yeah, brand doesnt matter. I have a Toshiba TV, and Im happy with it. But there is a difference from 720p to 1080p, but you have to be somewhat close to the TV to appreciate it.

1080p on a 32" o0?! Yeah, sure ^^

You couldn't tell the difference...

Got me a Toshiba Regza 32WL66Z LCD TV 32" 720p a year ago for about 750€ (aprox. 1000$) and I'm very glad that I bought it. HD games or movies look sharp, colorful and crisp and even regular TV (digital satelite receiver) looks awesome! Especially that CSI stuff and other shows with an original HD signal look almost as good as if watching them in HD resolution. About those "wrong" pixel issue (dunno what's it called in English): After more than one year there's only ONE ;)

Hope that helped ;) - Greetings from Germany!

Yes...yet. But a TV is a long term investment and everything will be 1080P in the future. I'd go with 1080P if I was you. And if you're strapped for cash go get a best buy card and put what you have down on it. You'll get it interest free for a year and a half. Just make sure to pay it off in time or you'll get reamed with the full interest.

Quick lesson.

720p is considered HD

1080i/p also HD with higher resolution (obviously). The i stands for interlaced. 1080i sets only refresh every other line at a time (lines 2,4,6,8,10 etc then lines 1,3,5,7,9 ...) 1080p refreshes the lines in order (p=progressive)

720p is widely regarded as better than 1080i for gaming because of the quicker refresh rate.

The difference between 1080p and 720p is VERY visible, but only on sets about 40" or bigger. The bigger the screen the more apparant the difference. So depending on what size screen you're looking for (32"?) it wont matter, and most sceens that size don't even have 1080p.

As for brands:

--Sony-- Best picture quality by far, also very expensive, but if you can afford it it's worth it.

--Sharp-- Great screens for middle-of-the-road price probably best bet if you want an affordable sceen.

--Vizio-- A bargain manufacturer. They're very cheap, but they outperform a lot of similar brand names like toshibas and phillips

I agree with most everything expect,

Sony does not have the best picture quality by far. Most give the nod to Samsung/Sony then Sharp but this is very subjective as I like my Sharp better then my Samsung, but between the Xbr4 and the Samsung 71/81 series the Samsung wins out every time.

If you can get a Sharp with a non banding panel, they make the best panels hands down.

I would get a Westinghouse over a Vizio any day of the week. I had a 37 inch Vizio as my office monitor and now have a Westinghouse. The Vizio had more features, tuner, pip exc but the Westinghouse PQ just kills it. Regardless, they both sucked with blacks, video processing, color accuracy exc. Toshiba and Phillips both kill a Vizio as far as picture quality.

With Tvs, Brands mean EVERYTHING. They cost more because they are using higher end parts. Its not that they are trying to not sell the TV.
