I have a problem with my play and charge kit- a few days ago when I had to charge the controller and attached the cable to it the light was red for a few mins before turning green- when I disconnected the controller the battery died again.

So do I have to throw the battery away? Or is it the cable?

I even thought it could be the usb port problem but when I connected my mp3 player it worked fine.

Anyone can help?

Did you turn the xbox off when it was charging? It's kind of dodgy when you do that and only works half the time. If the xbox was on then I don't know.

yeah, it states that that battery only lasts for a total of about 1000 hours of gameplay or so, that could be too high, but the point is, is that it has a limit..just put in any batteries into the underside and connect the cable to the controller and usb and you can play worry free only not wireless, now it's a wired controller, that's how I do it, and only do wireless when I want to play farther away or not worry about that cable being pulled or anything...anyway, don't get rid of the cable!, the battery, well, try again for a longer time or just keep it charging as you play with the cable connected...if it doesn't work when you disconnect then now you only have a wired controller son, else get a new battery unit...$$$$

Either your battery is dead or the USB connection is loose.
