What is the likelyhood of my xbox being able to play through my laptop? It has a HDMI port on the side of it, so it can connect. But is it as simple as that? Appreciate any advice.

I'm not fussed about online play BTW, I'd be quite happy with just offline. I literally just want to use the laptop as a screen instead of a TV.

I wanted to do this before, when I didn't have a HDTV. People told me you couldn't do it, though I can't remember why, but then someone else said they could do it... Sorry for the unhelpful post.

I sometime hook my 360 up to my computer monitor as it was bought as a seperate piece with this capability stated on internet sites, i am not sure whether it will work on laptop but you can try it. What harm can it do? ;)

The HDMI port is likely an HDMI-out port.I have one on my laptop as well and it doesn't work.....or I'm doing something wrong

Could be the case on laptops, my monitor has HDMI input and output ports. I also sometimes link my laptop up to monitor aswell because it is bigger and the display doesnt give me headaches after sitting on it for 6 - 8 hours.

it won't work...those hdmi, vga, dvi ports on laptops are video-out only (output)...they're use to connect to an external monitor, hdtv, or projectors
