My opinion... Don't bother buying it if you are unable to get Live.
If it is an issue with parents not letting you get it I recommend trying to convince them.
If you are unable to take a 360 online due to not having high speed internet, then that sucks, and you probably should look towards another console
Unless you have friends who can come over and play it with you somewhat frequently; that's kind of almost as good as XBL :(Â
everyone is going to say its sucks without live. i got live and hardly use it. i just like playin games single player. and when friends come over. i can care less about online play for games, its like a bonus to me for them to be good online games.
of course it's possible... Oblivion is one of it's greatest game and it's not online... Having said that, people without xboxlive are probably going to miss on the greatest way of having fun, online gaming which started with the last gen console are really reaching maturity now, and anyone who has spent some time playing againt others online know you can never match this with simply AI...

Can an XBOX 360 still be fun without having XBOX Live?SkyCastleDan
It absolutely can. I also didn't have XBL last-generation, but I have it with the 360.
About 70% of the time I'm playing a game, it's not strictly online.
Multiplayer is a REALLY good part of XBL and Live is definitely fun, but fun can be had with splitscreen as well.Â
I go on live with 70kps UPLOAD and 100kps download... I can host and NEVER LAG, if they LAG, its their connecting, hence why I host 3vs3 in GoW.
No S*** seriously. But we do have 1 gig cap for 4000kps Download and 400kps upload (thats when I Download the map packs etc)
'Bout the only drag to XBL is the random idiocy you have to deal with, but this is a part of playing against punks that get cocky knowing they can't be chin checked for s*** talking. Other than that, XBL has completely added a whole other dimension to my console. I signed on in Nov '06, and I like it very much. Imo, live makes it a better gaming experience, but I had fun with some of my 360 games long before I put it online.
Some games imo need live to be successful. COD3's single player campaign for instance imo is complete and utter garbage. Put the game online and it becomes one of the best games I've ever played in terms of fun factor. The last two days, I've been having a blast with Unreal Championship 2 online.
