I remember not having online last-gen at all. Can an XBOX 360 still be fun without having XBOX Live?

My opinion... Don't bother buying it if you are unable to get Live.

If it is an issue with parents not letting you get it I recommend trying to convince them.

If you are unable to take a 360 online due to not having high speed internet, then that sucks, and you probably should look towards another console

Unless you have friends who can come over and play it with you somewhat frequently; that's kind of almost as good as XBL :(

i had my 360 for about a year without live and played it more when i didnt have it than i do know with it. so yes its definatly worth having without live, but i'm glad i payed the extra money for it because it was definatly worth it.

everyone is going to say its sucks without live.  i got live and hardly use it.  i just like playin games single player.  and when friends come over.  i can care less about online play for games, its like a bonus to me for them to be good online games.

You'll want to focus on getting those quality singleplayer games to make the 360 worth getting on that regard. But at least silver is free, which you'll definitely want to get the various patches for individual games.

don't waste your money on a 360 if you can't get live, i used to be on dial-up bout 2 years ago and had to convince my parents that we need high speed (just for live :D) because i knew that i would be wasting my money buying a liveless 360, going from no live to live is WOW...i find myself playing less singleplayer and more multiplayer now......if u can't get live at all then get a wii..

There are lots of great single player games, and playing without live can stil be great. The question is, can playing games without high speed conneciton still be fun? PS3, X360 and PC are making more use of multiplayer but at thsi point single player games still excist. I've not live enabled three days a week due to some dificulties in my area. But there still is enough to do, Obivion, Dead Rising, Saint's row, the godfather just to name a few. All of them have enough gameplay to amke it worth the purchase. Can the 360 be fun without live, yes. Is it even better with live, yes.

of course it's possible... Oblivion is one of it's greatest game and it's not online... Having said that, people without xboxlive are probably going to miss on the greatest way of having fun, online gaming which started with the last gen console are really reaching maturity now, and anyone who has spent some time playing againt others online know you can never match this with simply AI...

It seem most of the games are made for live but are still fun offline.  It is essential to have a high speed connection for many reasons other than gaming.  It is still fun but you have more options when you can jump in a online game.  It is fun online and offline and the 360 is worth every penny.

Wow lol ur better off buying a Wii because I dont see it using online on that for a long time. Xbox Live is a must for Xbox 360 its free and when I mean free Silver is free. You can still chat with people and send messages you just can play games. The old Xbox Slogan was Its good to play together. The new one is Jump In. As in Jump into the Online Community and have fun.

Can an XBOX 360 still be fun without having XBOX Live?SkyCastleDan

It absolutely can. I also didn't have XBL last-generation, but I have it with the 360.

About 70% of the time I'm playing a game, it's not strictly online.

Multiplayer is a REALLY good part of XBL and Live is definitely fun, but fun can be had with splitscreen as well.

I go on live with 70kps UPLOAD and 100kps download... I can host and NEVER LAG, if they LAG, its their connecting, hence why I host 3vs3 in GoW.

No S*** seriously. But we do have 1 gig cap for 4000kps Download and 400kps upload (thats when I Download the map packs etc)

GET LIVE OR GET OUT

sorry lol, but you're missing out.  I've played Rainbow Six Vegas online everyday pretty much for a little over 4 months, I've never played a single player game for more than a few weeks except for Oblivion.  It's worth it, I got live when it first came out, and I can never go back to ...offline.  Even when I'm playing single player games, I'm still talking to my friend over the mic.

'Bout the only drag to XBL is the random idiocy you have to deal with, but this is a part of playing against punks that get cocky knowing they can't be chin checked for s*** talking. Other than that, XBL has completely added a whole other dimension to my console. I signed on in Nov '06, and I like it very much. Imo, live makes it a better gaming experience, but I had fun with some of my 360 games long before I put it online.

Some games imo need live to be successful. COD3's single player campaign for instance imo is complete and utter garbage. Put the game online and it becomes one of the best games I've ever played in terms of fun factor. The last two days, I've been having a blast with Unreal Championship 2 online.

yeah of course it can. ive never had live even with the old xbox. you dont even have to get "the right games" all you have to do is avoid anything that is strictly online (and theres not many). i do hope to get live eventually but im in no rush
