early in the game i was gonna try and play it without online help..

i thought (wrongly) that i should try to keep things pretty even when it came to S.P.E.C.I.A.L... and to the stats, which ofcourse was a mistake..

my biggest problem is i cant really decide what i want my char to be.. i know i want good lock picking...

and i cant decide what weapons i should use. right now small guns is the highest with melee second

i also cant decide what other stats i should lvl up highest..

i was thinking repair and speech

Ill post all of the stats later today...

im getting through the game with no problems really, but i feel that im messing up and missing out on a lot of things bc none of my stats are really too high

i also messed up one of my perk choices and wasted it on an xp boost.. the one with plus 10% xp... i misread it and thought it was 10% more skill points.. idk im an idiot lolzzz

i really dont want to start over.. any suggestions on how i can fix it from where i am.. i will post all the stats later, dont feel like looking at the moment, im either lvl 7 or almost 7 cant remember

any help/advice is much appreciated

Well im prolly really not much help, but big guns you should work on and also (cant remember the perk) computer skills will also help as I know of so far. Im only lvl 11. Sniper rifle will be good in weapons of choice and shotgun at close range the plasma grenades are good with robots and also use mines because when your in a dense area they'll come after you so drop a mine and let them keep coming. Also the 44. with a scope (sorry I cant remember where to get but look on the internet to find it) thats a good small gun weapons you can use with your abilities right now.

this is what i did. when ever i would level up i would put most of it towards the major ones. like medicine ,repair ,lockpich, speech, then when you get to choose your perk i would pick something that had to do with guns or explosives. i found the one with the rifles and the laser rifles to be the most helpful in the game. im on my second playthrough so i learned how to balance everything out. but hey to each his own.if you need help finding booble heads just drop a message too. thats my main objective is finding those guys right now. that and that damn nuka quantom quest.

I played through it twice and i put most of my stats in

"Small guns" (cause i loved the shotgun)

Lockpick

Med (which is really helpful with med syringe iforget what there called

and speech cause i liked influencing people

Once you playthough it 1 time you will know what you need and the second time you play it you will just put all the stuff in one category.

Youll know what you have to do!

Also the stranger perk is very entertaining and i would suggest it!!!

I've found that there is no correct way to level a character.

Somethings can be a waste though. For example the bobbleheads give you an extra special stat point, so you don't want anything at 10 when you make a character, as it would be a waste. Aslo, there are (don't quote me) 25 stat points to be gained in books in each skill and a bobblehead that will give you an extra 10 - if you max anything early, you might have wasted level points.

With the perks, I found the best ones were unique abilitys - these are much better than any skill boosting, as you can boost skills by other means.

Small guns and lock pick were the two skills I found most useful

Best perk was probably the one where you find extra ammo in the crates. Halfway through the game I only needed three ammo types, magnum, shotgun and missiles - everything else I sold - so money was not an issue either.

Really, I'd recommend getting Medicine and Small guns up. But what I'd really recommend is starting again. The first few hours are best just for a bit of experimenting and then starting again to get the character you really want.

Repair is definately the most important stat in the game. It raises ALL your weapons damage and raises your armors damage resistance. It's nice having a fully repaied Fat Man that does 1200+ damage =)

Definetly raise repair, medicine and lockpick. I tried going through raising different stats and ignored my lockpick was a big mistake because I was kicking myself after a little while. I couldn't get into to anything be doors, containers, ammo boxes, etc. Medicine obviously so you heal more with stim packs, and repair so that you can keep your stuff in good condition without having to pay people for it and you can stay out exploring more. I'd say those are the three most important, and with weapons its really up to you and how you want to do the combat. My first time through I did small guns, second time big guns. I might try again with melee or unarmed.

I never had a single problem in the game. I went Speech/Small Guns/Repair then dropped my points in Lockpicking/Big Guns/Explosives.

Looking back Big Guns was a complete waste and didn't help me at all. But now that I'm 20 and maxed out it's cool having a character to completely level towns with. My setup worked awesome I just recommend switching Big Guns with either Melee or Energy Weapons.

On my second playthrough now, I tagged small guns just to have enough to get me through(all my other points are going to energy weapons), and when the Enclave start showing up you'll never run out of ammo and you'll always have energy rifles to keep repairing with.

Also speech, aside from getting you money doesn't do all that much. If you put enough in Speech to have the options, then you can always do the save trick. Save before the conversation and keep reloading until your attempt is successfull. I spent the full 100 on Speech and I could have survived with much less. As far as stats just max Intelligence(9+Bobblehead in Rivet City) and whatever else you need for your Skills.

Repair and Lockpick are both must haves. Medicine is really helpful since it increases the amount of health stimpacks do. I personally chose to stick with Small Guns since I liked using the Combat Shotgun and Lincoln's Repeater. The Sniper Rifle and Scoped .44 are awesome weapons as well. Good luck with the rest of the game.
