One of my favorite features on the xbox 360 is the dashboard option to turn aim assist off for all games. I enjoy knowing I can efficiently hit all my targets with the least amount of computer help possible.

How about you, do you keep aim assist on or are you like me and played RDR on the first run with full manual aiming?

Note: most games seem to have aim assist On by default.

I usually have it on. I mostly play for fun these days, and as an ex-PC gamer aiming with a controller can drive me crazy.

Depends on the game... I don't want or need aim assist in FPS's... But in TPS's... Games like RDR, GTA4, ect are stupid without lockon/aim assist... Have you played the no-lock-on MP? It is basically a fight not of aim and precision, but a fight of who can jump and crouch back and forth in the fight to dodge the most bullets competition...

Slight aim assist doesn't hurt. I played a few games online with Bioshock 2 and it has no aim assist. I did pretty bad. Actually, really bad. :P

Aiming with a controller is a terrible experience for me, after years and years of PC shooters. So I use auto aim, when I do(rarely) play a console shooter. Consoles are better for many things, but shooters are not one of them.

The dashboard option doesn't do anything. It also ask what difficulty do you perfer, Racing; manual or automatic, and other crap that has no bearing on any game. Everything has to be done in each individual game. (if it gives said options) Aim assist is somewhat needed but things like sticky reticule/magnetism (COD/Halo) move the reticule on their own and are well above acceptable levels of assistance. (its not assisting if its doing all the work) All shooters need auto-aim removed playlist. Its not a real HC mode if aim-assist is enabled (BC2, MW2...)

I'm pretty much the same as Cricketboy, I'm used to having the accuracy of a mouse to target things, whereas I usually aim a tad off when using a controller. Saying that, I only use Aim Assist on games like GTA and Red Dead Redemption.

off topic RDR aiming is so unresponsive, GTA4 doesn't handle like this what did R* do? I've played GRAW to UC2 and none handle so poorly as RDR. Auto-aim is damn near mandatory...

Why would they include a useless option? No man, that setting is useful: whenever you play a new game it checks if it has an aim assist option and automatically turns it off. Believe me, I always go through a game options before playing and it works with all shooters. I agree on the sticky aim though, I hate it so much.

Being I used to be a pretty hardcore PC gamer auto-assist felt dirty at first leaving it on. But a controller is no mouse, gotta deal with it I guess.

Your talking about "Game Defaults" in the profile, yeah its useless. It also ask what colors I perfer (pointless) and sensitivity, which it has no control over. Ask around if you dont belive me. Are you new to 360? Not trying to be mean its just your uninformed. Next you'll tell me by putting my gamezone to pro or underground I'll only be put into matches with only the most hardcore of gamers. Nope, just another useless feature. Sorry...

I don't know about all the other settings but the option for aim assist in shooters works perfectly for me.
