I heard many people saying that their 360 broke, mostly the red leds malfunction. I'm asking 360 owners: did your ever experience malfunctions with your console? You may also describe what happened if you want.

Note: This is not a system wars thread, I'm not trying to compare consoles or bash anything, just collect data.

Thank you for your response.

I have a Launch Premium that has more time on it than any other gaming console ive ever owned. Including multiple marathon sessions, being shipped from SC, to Minn., to Va., and carried to other friends houses for gaming. And its never had a single problem. I keep hearing the typical, "It will break eventually, they all do." argument. But i wouldnt care now. Not as much time as ive put into it. I game hardcore, and every system ive ever owned has crapped out at one time or another eventually. My launch 360, and my PS3 are the only systems ive ever owned that havent had an issue yet. Although i have 1/100 the amount of time on my PS3 as my 360, its still running strong too.

My first 360 didn't get the RROD, but the DVD drive sounded like it was chewing discs, so i took it back and got a new one.

so my *new* one I brought back home took it out of the box, to find all the front of the 360 smashed in, took that back for a another new one.

So I'm arguably on my 3rd 360.

The day after I bought it, it stopped reading discs, and I had to exchange it.

It's a research I'm doing on console durability through gaming history (I'm not comparing current-gen systems, I'm comparing generations. Right now the 8 bit era wins). You're making it easier for me by answering the poll ;)

Got RROD twice in the same day! :o But lucky for me it was just an overheating issue, worked after a few hours and no problems after almost a year later.

yea i got the RROD. it sucked.

It wouldn't have been that bad if UPS wouldn't have lost it... I spent weeks calling ups, then calling xbox (and tryin to figure out how the hell to talk to a real person) then getting told by UPS that i couldn't file a claim because I wasn't the original sender, and then being told by xbox that they didn't know what to do about it, and that I had to wait an hour on hold to talk to somebody that could actually help me. I would have gotten it back in about 3 weeks, but with this fiasco it took about 2 months.

We bought a launch premium and just recently it gave out on us. Ity wasn't the RROD but a graphical error. We returned it with a Best Buy warranty and got a new one (with hdmi and two free games, Forza and Marvel, so I'm not complaining).

I had my xbox 360 premium for a year, then it broke (RROD) and they couldn't fix it so they sent me money to buy the new xbox 360 pro with HDMI, so it wasn't too bad. I pretty much exchanged my old xbox for a new one with HDMI.

Ah cool, is it for a course or something? My current 360 I've had for almost a year and no problems.

Something slighty related for you, I've had a Atari 2600 for 20 years and never had any problems with it. \m/

It's a personal research me and a few workmates are making. I may blog the results if they turn out to be significant. Thanks for the Atari 2600 feedback, Atari machines never ever seem to break (not the 5200, though).

My core launch unit broke after about 2 years, got a new one from them in a week that consistently froze, so sent it back and got another one. That one has been working for about 8 months now. Honestly it wasn't a big deal, took about 2 weeks for the whole ordeal.

I have two buddies with 360s and they've never had a problem and I've never had a problem with mine either. Generally we log at least two hours on a weekday and up to 12 hours when not working.

I still get giddy when I turn it on. :D
