I've never gotten the Red Ring of Death, but I've had two consoles die. The first stopped working within a week of purchase, and the second was broken as soon as we got it. Our current system has been working for about four months now.
Sometimes it fails to start up. Still on my first 360, the one I got at launch date. Sometimes I have to turn it off and on again and again until it starts up- not really that much of a hassle, for 5 minutes of my time. At least it's never crashed during a game, that's something I can't complain about. Still, I wouldn't be overly disappointed if I got the 3ROD, that way I could get a new one for free. It's out of warranty so I'd have to pay to repair it otherwise. :roll:
I bought a 360 last July 2nd. 2 months later it started not booting past the big X. My brother in law told me to remove the HDD and see if it booted past it and it did, so I bought another HDD. Then 3 months after that it started freezing a lot and a few days later I got the red ring of death. I e-mailed xbox and they had increased the warranty to a year so I sent it in in a box they mailed me and got a new 360 from them. It started freezing occasionally so I got spooked and Ebayed it to some teenager here in my home city.
i have had mine for almost a year now and it hasnt flashed the red rings of death... but it does manage to freezo or get a disk read error every once in a while.

Ya, I'd be willing to bet money that the majority of 360 owners experience some kind of glitches, be-it freezes, disc read errors etc. A lot of people like them enough to be willing to accept it, but I don't have it in me.
this is my 3rd and I am done with MS krap... mine is off to get fixed and once it is in I am trading it in....
I have had nothing but problems with it.. and I will not waste my money on game now fo i to beak again...
Mine broke 5 days before Halo 3 I had it bought and paid for... so I went to the store and got my for money back for Halo 3 and Mass effect...
MS can kiss my ass.... I hate them now and will never buy anything to do with them again....

I know your pain man. My 360 messed up 91 days after purchase, and I was so dissapointed, and the customer support was terrible. I vowed I wouldnt by anything for the 360 again, but just recently I decided to give it another chance, cause my refurb has been fine for almost 10 months. Sure enough, I buy Halo 3 - and now I read on the internet that Halo 3 is causing Xbox 360 failures and disc read errors. Ugh. If it dies again, I dunno what I'll do. I hate to buy another 360 but if it's got the new cooler chip with a better failure rate then I might just go ahead and bite the bullet and buy another. I dunno.
