With the recent rumours of Call of Duty switching to the pay-to-play sytem that is found in World of Warcraft (a small monthly fee that is required to play online), I was wondering how many of you would actually continue to be a Call of Duty supporter. So, answer the question above and sound off below!

Nope, there are plenty of other games to play on the Xbox, and for the people that are already paying for xbox live, it would be 3 payments. The disk, Xbox live and the 'pay-to-play' payments. It would never happen unless on the PC.

Absolutely not.

I don't think the the World of Warcraft monthly subscription model would work with an FPS. It would take a lot more than the odd free map, gun, etc. and unless they revolutionize the FPS genre to make it worthwhile, I don't see myself ever paying for something like that.

First of all they wouldn't be able to do this with the older titles so I would just stick to COD 4 or COD 5 for the rest of my Call Of Duty days, HELL NO would I ever pay extra to play COD LMAO....

could you imagine if we had to pay a monthly fee to play MW2 lol ?

Bingo!

I don't think anyone will EVER develop a FPS immersive enough to make people want to pay to keep playing, even on the PC considering there are a few free FPS games that still rock today.

That would be irrelevant to the topic because common sense says you wouldn't think twice about even buying the game lol.

It's funny that we're talking about this beacuse I just saw this on gametrailers.

It's a good discussion, but I have to disagree with the Farmville guy.

Of course not, although, either way I don't intend to play the next Call of Duty. I've played enough of them now.

As for the whole subscription stuff, I honestly doubt it's going to be pay to play. I'm betting it's just gonna be an additional subscription for additional content such as more guns, perks, kill streaks, custom classes and so on. Throwing in a subscription just to play would practically be franchise suicide when every other shooter on the market doesn't force players to pay to play. They might as well be handing over their market share to EA.

And I doubt the fee for the subscription would be high. I doubt Activision really believes theres a great deal of players on Live willing to pay much for a subscription for their game on top of the x-box Live gold they already have to pay for. They may be greedy but I doubt they're stupid.

Indeed it is an interesting discussion, the most common thing that come up during it is that life is not fair (we all know that) but what they forget is that videogames were started with the idea of fun for the public fun that cost a fee but still fun I can see having to pay lets say 5$ a month to unlock the game to play it and it would change from game to game but allowing people to buy the better equipment shrinks there player pool. Take an online FPS, combat arms for example, you can play for free and you can buy special items that normally take time to unlock. this sadly makes the game a lot less fun, if you run in to someone that bought the heavy body armor and the unlimited ammo chain-gun right at the start of the new month after the point reset no matter if its all 14 players against them they will get all the kills for at least the first week of that game month only slowing the progress of anyone that didn't fork out 25$ to play.

No way, Call Of Duty's not the only game. While I love Call Of Duty, I still play others games and would play other games if there was a monthly fee.

I'm not even going to buy the next Call of Duty, no matter what time it takes place at. Infinity Ward lost me as a customer with the crumminess of MW2.

If IW were to do this it would be there worst decision they have ever made. If 900,000 people play that now that number will decrease to around 200,000 probably even less. As for me I don't even play it now so there would be no reason for me to pay for it later.

Its literally the worst decision they could make. Unless the make the game for free, it would never work. Ya alright lets sell the game for $60, get them to pay $60 a year to go online and another price to play the game online. Not sure what activison is thinking.

It depends on what they are offering. People don't seem to realize that they aren't going to just package Call of Duty 7 up and charge to play. It'll be its own game with extra features etc. Packaging Call of Duty 7 up, and charging 15 bucks a month would not sell.

MW2 must have given them the confidence that people will play their games no matter what lol.

But that's the problem isn't it? I mean, what could they offer to make it worthwhile? I don't care about maps, themes, extra guns, or whatever they decide to do unless they totally reinvent the wheel here.
