Poll: What do you like better as a series, Gears of War or Halo

I'm going to be honest I've never quite liked Halo and have always loved Gears of War from the beginning so I guess you know what my answer is :P

I'd have to say Halo, when given the choice between the two. There are other series I like better than both, but between these two: Halo

Halo i suppose because i have played them all a lot between friends. I have a lot of great memories with the two games and i just cant seem to get into Gears for some reason.

Let see....Halo has NO story and the combat has no strategy at all.....Gears actually has a good story and the combat takes strategy...not to mention you can chainsaw people....and did I mention Halo has NO story....GEARS OF WAR!jb0Ogi3

I started playing Halo 3 again and I think the Gears of War series is a lot better. Not saying Halo is bad, I like them all and think Halo 3 is the best out of the series but I have more fun with Gears both single and multiplayer.

Halo wins it for me. I haven't stopped playing the game since it came out. As for gears i just hate it.

The Darkness it has an emotional storyline that also has great combat. It is overall a single player only game though as the multiplayer is extremely laggy.

I haven't played the game but I have heard mostly good things about it.. Is it worth a buy or just rent?? I've been looking for an excellent "scary" game. Capcom pissed me off with their DLC (for sf4 and re5) so i'm trying to hold back on Resident Evil. I heard Left 4 Dead and Dead Space were pretty good... Have you played any of those titles?? Is there any scary/horror games that you would reccomend??sourcerah

The Darkness is like $13 used and it is definitely worth buying. I think the game lasts around 20 hours and it is very action packed. It isn't really scary but it has a slight horror atmosphere which i think is great. I have played both Dead space and L4D. Dead space is a great horror game easily one of the scariest in my opinion. L4D is more of a co-op game and not really scary but it is very addictive and has free dlc coming out. I would also say Silent Hill Homecoming and Condemned are pretty freaky and both well worth buying.

If your talking series wise then your talking story wise as part of the reason for likingthe series of your choice. And if you get right down to it(story wise not gameplay), it has to be halo.

the story in halo(while like it or hate it) makes much more sense then GoW. A war between two races, human and covenant, that the covenant started. in games it doesnt tell you how it started, some sort of holy journy that the prohphets have fooled the covenant into believing.I think the books might give more detail. So, heres the mowdown. Humanity is on its last legs and has taken the fight to them(in halo1) they are attack and are forced to wake the chief. they crash land on halo and blah blah blah. but in the end of all things the covenant outcasts and humanity join forces to end the war that the covanents started. enemies making friends.

That story makes more sensethan alien things coming up from the ground to kill all of humanity for no particular reasons in gears of war...

gameplay wise,the gamesare different and for different kinds of people, but halo has more depth in its story

GEARS ANYDAY

I am going with Gears hands down! Halo is a solid series and has its moments but I really feel like Gears outperforms it overall.

I have liked both games quite a bit, but i have to say playing the campaign in GoW is muhc more enjoyable but i like the story more in Halo. I cant stand gears online it is laggy and it is just that, I dont know when i am going to kill someone, it could take 1 shotgun shot or 8, however on halo i dont worry about that i grab a BR and a Snipe and i know i will kill. But i do enjoy playing GoW on system link and that is the game i play mostly on LAN. But Halo for me is an overall greater game for the multiplayer which is the real important thing about a shooter, becuase for me there has never been a fun shooter campaign even in Fallout 3 or Bioshock...im picky .

Gears the weapons are more satisfying to me and I love the gritty and dark atmosphere.

I would say the gears series but just because of Halo CE was so revolutionary for the xbox and so amazing i vote halo

Halo. The entire Halo series combined couldnt hope to be half as glitchy as either of the Gears games.

I like Halo. Like the 'world' of the series, its characters and weapons and gameplay and everything. Gears of War really isn't my style, too macho/army-ish for my tastes, but I don't hate it or anything. If a buddy of mine asked me to sit down and play a game of GOW with him, I would, but I would much prefer to play Halo if I could, you know?

i have only played a bit of gears of war 2 and have always played most of halo (except halo 2) and i simply love the story with the twists and everything

Thank you for adding that. Someone needs to tell these fanatics off. It seems the only thing all the peeps siding with Gears say is the lamesaw. Halo is more than a simple chainsaw with overly bulky guys screaming even the simplest of lines.

Although Halo Wars isnt bad
