I think Halo 3 lived up to the sheer hype put upon it and definitely delivered a fantastic FPS experience both online and single-player. If you're getting Live, definitely get Halo 3; probably has the most replayability.
you cant really say hands down, halo 3 is coming out in first for the one and only reason that the multiplayer is still fresh and not boring yet, and this is only because it is 10 days old
In terms of multiplayer, most players are playing Halo 3, but not to say that the other games are completely void of players. Bioshock is defenitely worth a rental, as you may regret buying it because of the lack of replayability [no multiplayer :(]. The other three are great games if you prefer more tactical shooters.
Halo 3 is probably the best option... you're guaranteed competition on Xbox Live and it has better single player than Rainbow Six Vegas (which has terrific multiplayer also). Gears isn't worth a full $60 IMO, though I seem to be in a minority there.
Bioshock is a great single player game, but you could finish it in a rental period so you may want to consider that. There's no multiplayer in that game.
The reviews of these games are pretty much the same with 9.0's and above, that's why I'm confused as to which one to buy. (I can only afford one at this time.)
