No one knows how big of a download this will be yet, nor how much space it will take to rip a game to your HDD, but I've heard quite a few people saying that they probably will.

So just take a second and post an answer and a message to say why you will or will not

I probobly will get the 120 gig or 60gig, I just hope I can transfer saves easily and they are decently priced or else forget it. I can live with discs.

Should have added a maybe option. I might buy a 120Gb if it drops in price. Otherwise i doubt i will. I'll use eBay though so hopefully it'll get a nice price drop so it'll be even cheaper. Without a price drop i guess i still will just hope there is.

Not that. It's the whole revamption (I think I just made up a word) of the Dashboard. It should be 1-2GB I'd imagine

I would like to, but unless MS drops the price of their hard drives there's no way I'm upgrading.

I had planned on updating my hard drive asap when I heard about the ability to install games directly to the hard drive, and since I am an RPG gamer for the most part, my games are multi disc so its just less hassle.

It really just depends on how much space it takes to rip games onto the hard drive. I haven't had a problem managing space on my 20 gig, so there's a chance I won't need one. Depending on how much the HDDs cost come this november, I might consider it.

Don't forget that the xbox has internal memory as well that store vital system data i think it may go there but i doubt it could hold all that nice fancy stuff that i really don't want.

It depends on how much space is taken up. If it is a new system all together then it should give the option of removing the original Dashboard. Perhaps it's a simple upgrade to the system and the additional space might not be an issue or significant.

Microsoft doesn't even make 40 gig HDD units for the 360, so it would be illogical to produce them just for people who already bought a 20gb.

MS just needs to allow 3rd party production of 360 HDDs already.

No. I'm almost out of hard drive space as it is, but I refuse to buy a 120GB drive out of principle - it's ridiculously overpriced.

I have a 750GB external hard drive with a good 500GB free - all they need to do is allow external USB devices and I'll be happy. I'm not going to pay their inflated peripheral prices.

I totally agree. I really need one, but it's just not worth it. If I was rich, that would be another story :D

If I get a job, maybe. I'm interested in the netflix thing, but since the movies delete afterwards anyway, I wouldn't need the extra space. I probably won't be installing any games, unless it becomes required eventually. In that case, yes, I would upgrade.

wow the update is not gonna be 1 to 2 gigs big you should be aware that the 360s os is stored on internal memory and no way its even a gig big it would be lucky to have over 100MB i believe that the current os takes up about anywhere from 15 to 30 MB the update will make that bigger but in no way will it be a gig.

as for installing games yes thats gonna need massive amounts of space evevn on smaller games.

I already did a a while back so I'm not worried.

Even with the 120GB HDD you'll probably only want to download your favorite games.

And I seriously doubt that the dashboard update will be anywhere near as big as you think.

The fact that I can replace my PS3's HDD with a 300+ GB unit for less than MS's proprietary 120 GB replacement means NO. However, if MS wises up and drops the price to a more reasonable, say, $60 price range, I'm buying.

No I don't plan to buy another HDD. The 20GB has been big enough for everything I've needed so far, and buying a HDD by itself is far too expensive.

The 120GB HDD has a RRP of £129.99, whereas a new Arcade only has a RRP of £159.99.

If the HDD cost the same as a game, then I'd be tempted, but its too much now

I know you are right because I think I heard it will be like 32MB. The dash has nothing to do with the HDD. A core without a HDD or memory card if hooked to live would be able to get the new update.

I still don't think I'll need one. I don't really care about ripping games to the HDD. I'm not sure whether it is to speed up load times or being able to play the game directly from the HDD, because either way, it doesn't faze me. I also don't rent films and I like owning physical copies of my movies. As usual, I delete the demos when I'm done with them.

In the end, until I download enough of the map packs and expansions, like when Shivering Isles came out, I'm not going to even think about a new HDD. Considering I have around 8 GB left, I'm not too concerned.

It's going to depend on how useful I find the copy to HDD option and whether or not I can get myself to spend MS's ridiculous asking price for the 120GB.

Nah, I won't be installing much games because I don't see THAT much of a need to do it. I mean, for the last year and 8 months, I've done fine without it.

And I doubt the dashboard will be 1-2 GB. Even so, I still have half a HDD.

Already traded my old Premium in and got an Elite quite a while ago. Pretty satisfied with that choice. I think I'll keep a few games that I play a lot on the HDD and change them out every now and then. I don't want it to take up all of the space.

i remember reading a quote from some MS guy saying something along the lines of "... our players ned more space for their media and movies and were giving that to them for no charge." since they dropped the price of the 20g to 300$ and made the 60g 350$. i think if we still have our receipt or some proof of purchase, we should be able to take it into a game retailer and get a 60g Hd for free

I doubt it, I have about 7 GBs free now and that's with the Tiger Woods Demo, The Red Faction & Street Fighter 2 HD Betas and about 20 XBLA games, no need plus it's overpriced. I have no desire to install games either.
