My vote is for Westren RPG's

I despise JRPGs.
WRPGs all the way. Even though there are quite a few JRPG lovers here, thanks to Square Lulzix
Years ago, I would have picked JRPG. But times have changed, and since I started playing western RPG's, I consider them "far" more innovative. When I first played Oblivion, and learned I could wipe out nearly the entire city on my own dark whim, I was like "what!", this is awesome!
I like both kinds, but there's no denying that I've played a significant number of WRPGs that are really, THAT MUCH BETTER THAN their JRPG counterparts. I've played some fantastic JRPGs, but the WRPGs, I've played so many good ones I can't help but think that this poll should be a no-contest. WRPGs are the ones I enjoy more, with (and these are generalisations of course) deeper battle systems, more fleshed out characters, gripping stories, freedom and often giving the option to play how you want OR being an addictive game. WRPGs all the way. Though I'm still very excited for FF13. :P
I Have to take JRPGs not by much though. I would take Lost Odyssey and eternal sonata over any 360 WRPG so I have to go with JRPGs. I enjoy both genres thoroughly though.
I like both, but when i weigh the scales with quantity of games and amount i enjoyed those games, WRPG's come out on top.
well, it's obvious wrpg gonna win the poll. most 360 owners have some sort of vendetta agaisn't japantherealnerddThat's horribly biased of a statement. I currently own more JRPG's for my 360 than WRPG's. I just beat Tales of Vesperia, I've already beat Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, and Blue Dragon. WRPG's I've played and beat are Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Two Worlds. All JRPG's have the same stale experience as Japanese developers try and hit on the same magic that was FF7. While Vesperia was solid, it certainly doesn't match up to the immersiveness of Oblivion / Fallout 3. Or like in the case of Lost Odyssey when the story is very good, it's hampered by a very stale battle system.
Man if you would have asked me this 10 years ago, it would have been JRPG all the way. Lately, I haven't found any JRPG I really like, at least one I have been really attached too. I guess JRPGs with the caliber of FF7, FF8, Wild Arms, Saga Frontier, Xenogears,Vagrant Story, andLegend of Dragoononly come around once a lifetime.
The last JRPG I played was Last Remnant, hated it, tried my best to play through it, but just couldn't. Last WRPG I played was Oblivion, loved it.
WRPG's are awesome! But I would vote practically anything over JRPG's. They don't sit right with me.MuffinPunkSAme here, idk i hate the anime and art of it.
JRPGs. Western RPGs are so dull, drab, and devoid of personallity. JRPGs have battle systems that actually require stratagy, and they have upbeat stories and colorful graphics. GamerJMI say I use just as much strategy battling in Fallout 3 or Mass Effect than you would in any JRPG.
JRPGs. I mean, when they're done right they're amazing. WRPG's are awesome too, Fallout 3 is one of my favourite games of all time.
Edit: It's weird, because last time this poll was done (which was about a month or two ago) it was neck and neck; JRPGs actually scores higher I think.
So far this gen JRPGs>WRPGs in my opinion of course, The only developer that is making it hard to choose so far this gen is Bioware other than that everything else was good but not great. The World Ends With You really made the decision easy for me though it has to be the greatest JRPG that I have played in a LONG time. Plus I prefer the music, combat system(Turn-based), and art style. Plenty of other reasons to. Though I really enjoy WRPGs and can't wait for Dragon Age: Origins.

Those games required strategy? I just basically run and gunned my way through both with ease. The only hard part in Fallout 3 was the beginning after that it was a cake walk. I have so much ammo in the game now after a few hours that isn't even a problem anymore. Mass Effect had a few tricky parts but nothing unbelievably hard. As for JRPGs those have been slightly hard for me but nothing too bad. Once you go to that one ghost mansion in Lost Odyssey it became very hard but after some leveling it got easier.
There was a time when I would of picked JRPG's. However these days I'm all for WRPG's. I find them much more fun and interesting. The only JRPG I may buy is Final Fantasy XIII when that comes out. I also still have to finish Star Ocean if I can get motivated. :(
Generally, the only thing in JRPGs I like over WRPGs is the story (Mass Effect being the only WRPG exception for me). I like the freedom, the combat, and the choices that generally accompany WRPGs. The biggest problem with many of them, for me at least, is the lack of involvement with the protaganist. If they do speak, it's usually just text-based. It makes ithard to gettruly involved in the story, which I don't have any problem with in decent JRPGs. One of my biggest gripes about JRPGs though is the art-style. While I hate to admit it, this has prevented me from buying most of the JRPGs for the 360. The only one I've beaten is Enchanted Arms, but I do own Lost Odyssey. I've tried to play them before, but the art style is just too distracting for me and prevents me from getting into the games as much as I would like to.
