Am I the only one who doesn't get Portal and Portal 2? I just don't get it. I've read about it, and I've watched other people play it and it just looks like a weird game to me. It doesn't look interesting at all. And I'm just curious, what's with all the hype? Is it really that good? Can someone explain this game to me because I really want to try it.

Why don't you play the demo, if you want to try it?

It's a puzzle game. The fun is in solving the test chambers, which you can't exactly experience just by watching gameplay. I suggest you try out the demo.

The most interesting part are the story and characters. The game is well written and despite the lack of quantity of characters, the quality is top notch. Definitely one of the most unique and unforgettable games out there. Recommended!

Get The Orange Box. If ever you don't like it, you got other games to choose from.

get gamefly and rent it. but to answer your inquiry, it is a puzzle game, that mind f*ks you, if you like that kind of thing; i do :3. get it if you like puzzles, and problem solving. after the campaign and coop levels, it is a dead game. new levels are coming out soon, but it gets old; just like sudoku.

Thanks guys. I might just try the demo. I love puzzle games, so maybe I'll love Portal 2.

the joy of Portal came from entering a room and having NO IDEA how the hell you were going to solve the puzzle. Then you slowly start to piece it together, bit by bit, working it through, until you finally get to the end of the room and you are filled with a sense of accomplishment... and then you enter the next chamber and start all over. Plus, the just plain hilarious writing in this game helps keep you entertained throughout the experience, making me laugh so hard I actually had to stop playing for a few minutes in different places, because I couldn't focus enough to actually solve the puzzles. It's just a great overall game, and one that everyone should at least try.

Yeah, I've got to try the first one before I play the second. Especially if there's a good storyline to it.

No, the story and characters are not the most interesting part. The fact that you are defying the laws of physics with a portal gun is the most interesting part.

Gotta play it yourself. Otherwise it's not that fun to watch.

LOTS of things that are said are reminders of situations from the first game.

Really? You can mention defying the laws of physics "along" with the story and the characters. How about that?

Its just a fun puzzle game and its not for everyone but what gets me about the series is the interesting story and unique gameplay elements.

It's HILARIOUS!!! Seriously, the characters and the things they say are so funny. I particularly loved Cave Johnson in Portal 2. His quip about life and lemons is probably my favorite quote from a videogame ever.
