Possible price drop announcement at gamescon from Microsoft !?

especially since Microsoft announced that you dont need the kinect plugged in , maybe sell a xbox without one for 399$ ?

That would be very nice, but I'm not sure how likely it is to happen.

Microsoft clearly is on a mission to repair the damage that has been done to their brand in the last few months, and doing something like that would blow the doors off the whole "console war" and get Microsoft right back into the thick of things, so it would be a wise move to make at this point.

I would love to see it happen.

I however would simply counter with the FACT that the X1 actually has these things called exclusive games at launch. All the PS4 has is Killzone and it is going to languish behind CoD Ghosts and BF4!!ShoTTyMcNaDeS

That won't happen. If Kinect is to have great games and developers are to spend time and money coming up with creative, awesome uses for it, then every unit needs to have it. A peripheral with 100% install base gets supported and has great things made for it; a peripheral with 15% install base gets ignored and languishes.

Kinect isn't just about games, though. In fact, I think Microsoft would be very wise to back off the "Kinect makes games better" sales pitch and move it more towards "Kinect makes navigating around your Xbox dashboard better". Market it as an option to navigate hands-free (and all the other non-gaming related stuff it is capable of) and just let the game integration go by the wayside.

It is doing more harm than good at this point, but the Kinect could still be offered as a "cool" way of navigating through the One's dashboard, thus allowing Microsoft to offer a "Kinect-less" version for those that "just want to play games, without a Kinect".

I can undertsand why Microsoft would be hesitant to do that right now, but if sales are very weak, they may not have any other choice down the road.

With all the recent changes I wouldn't be suprised.

The might sacrifice it in favour of the xbox console...then again MS have invested a lot into kinect & it would hurt just as much to throw away such an investment like kinect out.

Plus, the PS4 + PS Eye is $510, $10 more than XB1.

Second, since I've heard it come up in every forum across the web, this needs to be cleared up:

The PS4 DOES NOT have more RAM capability than the Xbox One. Period. The PS4 operating system uses up almost 4 gigs of ram. Yes, they do have a higher DDR grade ram. But it doesn't matter because Xbox One has some SRAM to make up the difference.

So, PS4 fanboys, before you rave about your "powerful" PS4, take a minute to do some research.

Sure Microsoft is going to announce a price drop...it'll be on the 360 though.

That's not gonna happen BUT if it was true it would only mean that I'd be getting the XB1 sooner then I thought!

Well, if it happens, I wonder how things would go for everyone who has already pre-ordered.

Would they contact them and ask them if they want to keep the bundle they currently have or down grade to the new bundle?
Also, if so, would changing their order/bundle affect their ETA for their pre-order?

Things like this and the possibility of screwing things up for pre-orderers might cause them to wait.
