I need some help in deciding to get a 360 and would like some input from everyone in the 360 forum. I just want some honest answers and opinions.

I am not sure if I am ready to drop $400+ (360 plus Wifi) for it yet. I do have a PS3 and I enjoy playing the games on it. The only reason I would get a 360 is for GeOW 1 and 2 along with Halo 3. I didn't like the Ninja Gaiden game, so I doubt the second one would appeal to me. I am wondering if just those 3 games would justify my purchase of this machine. I am happy with the PSN service, but I hear that Live is better.

Are there any other games coming out for the 360? Bioshock will be out for the PS3, so I can wait for that. Not sure what Mass Effect is about though. I also have UT3 and GTA4 on the PS3 and I am not into RPG's.

Should I wait for the newer model that is supposed to be out in a few months that is supposed to have the RROD issue taken care of? Any news on MS coming out with a brand new XBOX machine in a few years?

Sorry for all these noob questions and I thank everyone in advance for all the help.

Happy gaming!

If you're going to buy a system for just a few games, I wouldn't recommend it. Banjo-Kazooie 3 is coming out, but I don't know if you would like that. And I don't see another SKU coming out and the RROD is still a problem.

If you're having fun with your PS3 and only two or three games on the 360 appeal to you, I wouldn't recommend spending $400 dollars on the system.

If you have the money to buy a new console + XBL + wifi adaptor , Then Go for it.

However .. I would suggest .. Dont spend your money on a console only if you want to play Gears1,Gears2 and Halo 3.

Those games are amazing (Gears 2 as well ..i hope!) .. but then again,Gears 1 is on pc .. I'm pretty sure Gears 2 will be too and I wouldnt be surprised if halo 3 made it on to the pc in the future as well.

If you are happy with your Ps3 and its PSN .. then there is no reason to buy an xbox (ie- In my mind atleast)

I ,on the other hand, am contemplating to exchange my 360 for a PS3 .. i personally can see the PS3 easily overtaking the 360 in the near future.

And yes .. the RRoD is still a pain!

basically what he said, and xbox live is better in different ways, like private chat and in game messaging, the online play is can be laggy on 360, where ps3 online play vary as you would know. mass effect is a very good rpg/action shooter and its real time, very tactical, but alot of games you are not into is some of the good 360 exclusives, i found halo 3 rather boring i only go on it playing with friends but geow is great. check out dead rising its oldish now so it would be cheap its a great game just saving feature is a pain.

If you plan on spending the majority of your gaming time online with others then I'd say yes, go for it. For example I am a Forza 2 addict and I spend more time playing that game online than the rest of my collection combined. In this case I feel I would have justified the $$ for a single game.

If single player is more your thing then those 3 games aren't worth buying the system for. You could probably just rent one for a while and play the games.

In regards to the hardware, the rumor is that the new chips (Jasper) will be coming out by September but have not heard anything about a actual new SKU. From my research, the current chip (Falcon) has lowered the RROD issue quite a bit. With consoles costing so much these days, I would recommend you buy your console from a store that offers a trade-in warranty like Best Buy. There is a good chance you'll never use it but it sure puts down any worries you might have.

Thanks for the all the replies... I was looking into getting Gears on the PC, but my PC is a few years old and probably can't handle the game to its fullest level. The thing that makes it a bit harder is that I have a $100 gift card from Best Buy. Decisions, decisions.

I enjoy my PS3 and the games it has for it so selling my PS3 is not an option. I absolutely love the games on it, the multimedia aspects, backwards compatibility, and the online service. I know Sony keeps promising us with in game XMB and Home so at least I have that to look forward to in the future or at least sometime this year.

I was thinking of getting the 360 to enjoy Halo 3, GeOW 1 and 2 and wanted to know if it is worth the $350. Besides those games, I am not aware of any others that are coming out and that's why I came to the 360 forum to get the best response and opinions from 360 owners.

That's awesome that you're looking into a 360. It would be worth your $400 right now, and it will still be worth it down the line. Think about Too Human, Gears of War 2, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Alan Wake, and the LIST GOES ON. Not to mention, Xbox Live is the best online gaming community thus far although the PSN is improving, gradually. The Xbox 360 is highly accessible and there is a huge library of games to choose from. With the newer systems, the chance of getting the RROD is still prevalent but slim. Anyone could be the next victim, whether you own a new system or old. It hasnt been fail proofed yet. I would wait for BioShock on the PS3. They promise better graphics and who knows, new levels, longer game, or new DLC. I'm just guessing. If it turns out, it will be the exact same game as the 360, buy the 360 version because it's a lot cheaper. When you have all systems, gaming hiatus is at an all time high because you get the best of all worlds. Like right now, the Xbox 360 doesnt have any games out so I'm playing PS3, PS2, Wii, and PSP games. Ok, maybe NG2 but that's it, right now. With MGS4 only two days away, the PS3 is going to be at its pique again. You really need to check out "Too Human" exclusive game for the Xbox 360. It's amazing. You're going to want to have all systems. This year is going to be huge. And early 2009 is going to start off with a bang for all systems, especially the PS3 and 360. Good luck.

I originally bought my 360 for the sole purpose of playing Oblivion because my pc at the time couldn't handle it. Now I have a nice collection of games that I really enjoy and I am very happy that I got the 360. I will also be getting a ps3 for the sole purpose of playing MGS4 and I know that like my experience with the 360 I will end up owning many games on the ps3 also. So my advice to you is go for it, the more consoles you own then more power to you as a gamer.... and which gamer wouldn't mind owning all consoles?

If you plan to play online, I would suggest a Pro or Elite. If not, then a Core will do you fine. Picking between the Pro/Elite comes down to how much you download content. Pro is plenty if you don't plan to download huge amounts of video content. Elite is really for videophiles.

The hardware issues with the 360 are no where near as bad as the internet would like people to believe. You could get one now with no worries. Also, I'm pretty sure the Jasper model is already in circulation.

Price drops are always in someone's speculation, truth is no one knows for sure. If I were to take a guess on a price drop this year, I would guess late Sept early Oct.

I say go for it. There might not be any games out at the moment that you want but down the road there definately will be. Better buying now when you have the money then waiting till a game comes out that you want but you dont have the money.

When I got my PS3 there werent any games that I really wanted but I got Resistance with it and I love it. Then a couple days ago I bought Warhawk and love it. I bought a PS3 sololy (Spelling?) for Metal Gear Solid 4, even when I didnt know the release date but Im glad I did cause theres more games coming out for it that Ill buy.

Yeah, not sure what that kid is talking about either. The 360 has it and the PS3 needs it so the PS3 would be the jealous one.

i don't understand with 360 has it and ps3 needs it, like has and needs what? each console has advantages and disadvantages, ps3 has flaws so has 360, oh and TC no fanboy comments i wouldn't care much as long you have an explanation and is mature about it.and to TC have you played a 360 at someone's house a friend or relative, if not it really depends on the type of genre you like, or games you like, if those are the only games you really want i say wait for a price drop. but alot of the games you said your not intrested in are very good games.

I must say I'm surprised at the amount of honest, serious answers I see here. It's a good thing of course, just surprising on system specific forums. Anywho.

I own both a ps3 and a 360, love them both. Both have good exclusives, both have online although the 360's is more developed, both can play games at pretty much the same technical level. However, I wouldn't have purchased either if it were for only 2 or 3 games. There are many great exclusives already out for the 360, and more to come. I know you say you're not interested in alot of them, but it can't hurt to give them a try. You'd be surprised just how much you might love them.

i don't understand with 360 has it and ps3 needs it, like has and needs what? each console has advantages and disadvantages, ps3 has flaws so has 360, oh and TC no fanboy comments i wouldn't care much as long you have an explanation and is mature about it.and to TC have you played a 360 at someone's house a friend or relative, if not it really depends on the type of genre you like, or games you like, if those are the only games you really want i say wait for a price drop. but alot of the games you said your not intrested in are very good games.shadowkiller11

My brother in law has a 360 (which RROD'd recently ironically) and moved out of state. Before he left though, I did play Gears of War and other older games such as COD2, Dead of Alive, Condemned, and some Oblivion.

And you're probably right about a lot of games being good on the 360... for example, I did not enjoy NG Sigma on the PS3, but I may enjoy NG2 on the 360. If Bioshock was not going to come out on the PS3, then I would've bought the 360 much sooner.

Just an example to use... I plan on getting Soul Calibur 4. If I had both systems, then I'd get it for the PS3 just because of Vader. If Yoda or Vader weren't in SC4, then I'd lean towards the 360 just to increase the game library. Too Human looks pretty interesting as well and I will look into that also.

Games that are apprarently X360 exclusives now will soon get ported to the PS3 I reckon. Its been done plenty of times before. I've never used a PS3 or seen the network so I cant comment on that.

Myself I'd say if you're buying it for just 3 games, then no. I would have to have the cash to buy the 360 and fund games for both systems continuously before I bought a 2nd console.

If it were me bud - I'd stick to the PS3. Just my opinion ofc.

Crash.

I totally agree with you and I try to keep an open mind about it and the games that the 360 has.
