If I were you I would try to pre-order them at gamestop too. Better to have it at 2 places than one. Gamestop is 100% accurate on games, not systems. I have never had a problem with them.
Bestbuy has burned my brother a couple of times with pre-order games.
I've personally never had any problems with preorders. I preordered the Halo 2 Limited Edition at ebgames, went in the day it was out, and picked it up with no problems. When I preorder, I always pay in full. Thats just me though. I remember when San Andreas came out for ps2, I had it preordered in full at my local gamestop. That night, Gamestop split the pickup lines into those who paid in full and those who haven't. This was done to make it easier for us, those who paid in full. I guess they put us as the highest priority. I have heard stories though about not getting your preorder, but mostly for new gaming systems, which I understand.
If it's going to be a big game, most stores should have ample supply around. They will usually do a preorder limit on how many units they expect to get. How Bestbuy does it, I can't say, but it should be somewhat smooth for you. Just don't show up too late for the lines is my best advice.
Tell you though, I now pre-order games from online stores like ebgames. To me, it's easier to do, and I dont mind if I have to wait a few days to have it come to my house. I've always dealt with morons at game stores. Paying a little bit extra for shipping is no big deal for me.
Online preorders are a cool thing to try, if you have access to a debit/credit card (for convience, some do allow money orders, but what's the point? I would just go to an outlet store then).
