So i got ODST tonight only to come home and find that i get a recurring Disk read error amd cant even load the first level. Whats worse is i returned the copy for another and it is DRE at the same spot. I have almost tried everything, like installing to HDD, clearing my memory chache and it still doesnt work. I can load only like 3 firefight maps as well. Im getting more and more frustrated just thinking about while my friends are playing it without me.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips it would be very appreciated.

Don't buy Halo games.... But seriously, have you tried cleaning you 360 at all? And does this happen to any other games at all?

Disk Read Errors start coming when the DVD drive is starting to fail. My friend had the same problem with COD. He got his disk re-surfaced and everything, to no avail. He finally just bought a new 360. You might want to find someone locally who can put in a new DVD drive for cheap.

Well something similar to me happened with Crackdown. Everytime I loaded up the game I could get to the "select save drive" (w/e) and it would freeze EVERY time at that part and the disk was perfectly fine. Then when I played it on my friends xbox it would work fine. Tried to recover GT to his and load it then but no go. It could either be your 360 or (for a reason I wouldn't know) your profile. Your profile might have a corrupt file inside of it somewhere. Those would be the only reasons I can think of atm.

Sucks to say but that may be your best option if it's not working. You said it's ONLY ODST that does this?

I've heard of some people having a similar problem, it usually takes having to get a new dvd drive or xbox repair in general.

That's really strange that the second disk works but the first doesn't. If your 360 is still under warranty, I'd get it replaced because it sounds like your disk drive is gonna die soon.

I had this EXACT problem last june it just randomly started and then it started to happen with all my games, then eventually it took literally 20 tries to load up the disk then i got RROD at the end of August. Luckily it was still under the 3 year RROD warranty so i got it repaired for free. So either get it repaired or buy a new 360.

It could be that the discs are giving some xboxes problems. I know some people got DREs with GeoW 2. I wouldn't waste $ on a new 360 especially if it's only one game Sheesh. That's just rewarding MS or Bungie for their failures.

The ODST discs are not working on alot of 360s. It's not your box.http: //www.gamezine.co.uk/news/game-types/first-person-shooters/halo-odst-almost-1-million-online-in-past-24-hours-$1329544.htm

Exact same thing happened to me too. I bought Fable 2 and it kept freezing. I put in other games to see if they would do the same, but they worked fine. Finally I tried Fable 2 and the system just crashed. I reset it one or twice and got the RROD.

I'd see if you can get it fixed before buying a new, but I'm saying that because I'm broke :)

This is interesting news...

Well i decided to just buy the elite with that rebate going on because my old box is past the 3 year warranty. I think im just gonna give it to my girlfriend so she can play some arcade games or something.
