I've hooked it up to an hdtv (component cables) and my vga monitor, and I don't get any video for either. But I do get sound, the 360 start up sound, and the menu sounds are coming through just fine. I don't get any red rings on the 360, or any thing that sounds like an error message. I have done the refreshing of the video settings (hold Y and the Right Trigger) but that didn't do any thing.

I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks in advance.

Well...unplug everything...check your putting the right ones into the right sockets...and make sure they're in hard..If that doesn't work I dunno.

Are you sure it's on the right video thing? Like video1/video2 and such, that could be the problem.

Not that either. Besides, sound wouldn't come through if it wasn't.

I have a lcd monitor, and I couldn't really tell you my settings as I cant really read them. I did change it back to 'defalt' settings (the 360 help site told me to do that), but I dont know what those are.

It sounds like you're having the same problem as I have. I was playing Vegas last friday, and suddenly the colors all changed to a greenish-blue tint. even the guide blade. I turned off the console, but when I turned it back on, the screen was blank. I run my 360 to an LCD HDTV through VGA, with the audio through the optical out. Like you I could hear it boot up, and go to the dashboard no problem, just no video. Also like you, I got no 3 red lights of death. I tried everything I could to get it to work, trying the VGA cable, the Component cable the 360 came with, and even a cheap universal component cable I use for the PS2 (it has a 360 plug on it). I also tried reseting the video settings ( Y and the Right Trigger). Nadda. Ended up calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX. The Customer support guy had me go through the same steps I had already mentioned, and nothing worked. So now I'm stuck with no (working) 360, waiting for my shipping box to arrive so it can be repaired. I called on friday June 1st, it is about the 10th now, still no box. All I can say is good luck, hopefully if you do have to get your 360 repaired the shipping box will arrive sooner than mine has.

I am having the same issue. One day I was playing Ridge Racer 6 and the red went out. I turned it off and back on just to find out I had lost all video. I have tried different tvs and cables. I am trying to figure out how to get Microsoft to fix it without shelling out a bunch of cash for another broke xbox.

Ok, I know this is late, but I fixed the problem.

Much like the RROD fix, with raising the motherboard to the cooling units, and cleaning up the old coolant compound with new compound, the trick it, to make sure there is nothing on the little prongs next to theGPU. You'll see em. Basically, I got it to work solid for a few days, then it did it again...

sadly, the stuff I used was Arctic Silver 5, it's the best thing you can get, easy to find at RadioShack.. but the problem is I can't get it to solidify easily..

So if you don't mind a little abuse on your box, just cook it in a towel, I prefer using Nylon blankets.. they don't transfer lint into the fans likepillows or towels..

make sure the power corde and the A/V cable are hooked up to it.. just let it boot, and overheat until it shuts off and shows 2 red light.. if it shuts off and does not show the 2 red lights, it's really no big deal.. While it's hot, you have 2 choices, try to shock-cool the motherboard by placing it in the kitchen for 5 minutes.. that was it cools down in a clear environment.. or while it's hot, put your harddrive back on and reboot the thing.. Mine works after I do this, sadly that's all I can say, at least you can get it working again... but it's no permanent fix..

yes that's my gamertag on xbox live.. add me ^_^
