For some reason I cannot play my backwards compatible Xbox games on my Xbox 360. It has been suggested to change my family settings but I cannot do that since I don't have a child gamertag. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Help please.

First up: Do you have a hard drive? Second up: Are the games you are trying to play on the backward compatibility list? Give us more information and maybe we can help you.

yes i have a hard drive... i play gears of war online. yes i downloaded that file to a cd and put it into my xbox 360 and updated it but it still does not let me play online. i could play winning eleven for xbox on my xbox 360 before i did that update so i think it updated when i put that disk in but i cant remember. but i remember it wouldnt let me play xbox live for that game but i dont really care. yesterday i got halo 2 and i tried to play it online and it did not let me. it seems like it doesnt recognize that my gamertag is signed onto xbox live but i cant seem to figure out why.

i have a hard drive

the game is backwards compatible

i have ethernet and play gears of war online so its not connection

If you have a hard drive... are you hooked up to the internet?  XBL is supposed to automatically install a patch for you each time you put a BC in the 360.  I haven't had a problem yet.  If it still doesn't work try calling 18004myxbox.

Family Settings?

You should set it to "Adult" to play all games.
