or a problem with the tv or the vga cable. is it an offical cable or a copy cable coz the copies/unoffical cables aint the best to use. why dont you just use component leads instead as you should get a better picture than 1024 x 768djrobst
well,my cable is unoffical one ,first i thought that was cause of my cable because i used to use my xbox with HDMI and got no problem until i moved it to my room so that i can play it with my monitor ,but there're so many pepople who use the same cable but get no problem but me :(
and how can you connect component to an PC monitor ????

Most monitors do not have a component cable connection, so forget that.. also just noticed you said you're using 1024*768.. for a 19" LCD you should be setting your resolution to 1280*1024. I had the unofficial cable first, but it sucks.. the picture quality is terrible. The official MS cable is much better quality but that shouldn't account for complete signal loss.

yes,the first time i use the VGA cable i set it to 1280*1024,but after the problem i changed it to 1024*768 and it worked OK until 1-2 days ago,and the picture quality is not very bad at that res with my cable
and one more thing i just realized ,that is when the xbox restart,if i hold both the triggers and Y,the display setting will reset to 640*480 then i can change my LCD input to VGA ?????? ,i'm really confused about this, which is the source of the problem,my LCD,the cable or my xbox ??????
Yeah it sounded like your Xbox at first, but maybe not. Do you have a TV that you can use with your Xbox just to test it out? You can use the yellow, white, and red composite cables and play on a TV and see if it does the same thing.
You can also try getting a Microsoft VGA cable and trying that out, maybe the cable you have sucks and it's degrading so much in quality that you lose the signal. If you have a Best Buy or Futureshop near you, you can buy the cable, test it out, and return it within 30 days if that's not the problem...
new news,i got a check with my LCD Samsung 40'' (bordeaux) downstair, using that VGA cable and there was no problem at all :o,and although it's a 40'' LCD with HDTV ready but i could onnly set resolution at 1024*768 or 1280*768 ,other resolutions were not supported :o
so the problem must be my LCD 19'' ASUS VW192T,but i cant understand how can it make myy xbox restart ?????
and in what cases the xbox360 will auto restart ???
problem with the unoffical vga cables is some tvs do like them and work fine. but some just wont work with some kit or produce bad pictures. have you tried running the same resoultions via a pc to see if the monitor works fine with them.if u still cant get around this what i would suggest if finding the customer services number for support for you monitor. start with them and see if they any known issues or anything they can suggest you do. then if thats all clear goto microsoft. but i think they wont really want to support an unoffical cable. ive no idea about the xbox restarting. does it do that when u play off a tv but just as strange is the fact the monitor keeps changing over to dvi instead. you need to get this checked out with the support line for the monitor and see if they can help youdjrobst
yeah, both 1024*768 and 12480*768,even 1280*1024 work fine with my monitor, but if the xbox restart after about 2 hours of playing i have to reset resolution to 640*480 so i can change input to VGA ,otherwise i cant,it keep pushing me back to DVI although i can still hear the sound:question:
