i have been suprised of the little discussion to do with project natal since its announcement at e3.

what is there to discuss? how well will we, gamers, be able to adapt to such technology? i guess given the nintendo wii, for those who own one, it won't be a problem. but like the editor of x-box magazine, i think i would rather stick to the control pad than gesture in front of that black box to be blunt. however, he did say that he was wrong to doubt microsoft on this.

will it sell? will the recession hold back sales? any analysis here?

how else can we discuss this?

I think it will sell very well. Especially if it is incorporated with many hit games at launch. I don't expect to see this til next holiday though. And i agree, I would rather stick to a controller, which is Why i think microsoft will give us that option.

if it can scan a skate board it can scan a controller.letting natal pick up motion on your controllers while you just push its buttons.

Its obviously only an extra toy and nothing more. They obviously have no use for it in any of their hardcore FPS's. It would not work correctly. I knew they would have this issues from the beginning when they announced it. they were giving people false hopes to boost sales. Still when gates announced it would work wit the PC that made me want to buy it. Im not expecting any serious hardcore thngs to come from it though.

Most likley not. Because the wiis games focus around the wiimote while natal only has a select few. Im pretty sure it scared the wii users at first though. I know it had that effect with me, but after seeing that article about halo, and also thinking that the camera will have a small FOV not much is rly possible with it.

A little biased much? Honestly, I believe this will be popular, but not legendary. And on Jimmy Kimmel Live, they showed you could drive in Burnout Paradise, and play some 3d-like breakout-style game. So it isn't some FPS-only gimmick. Remember the EyeToy? How in EyeToy Play you could punch ninjas, play guitar, cook, etc. So there will be many functions for this.

That would be pointless. Just play with a controller.

I can't imagine a game that I would enjoy that would benefit from NATAL. Maybe housewives can use the 360 to do yoga when it comes out or something, idk. But it just sounds like a really expensive, mostly useless toy to me.

If it could somehow work extremely well with FPS's(the top selling XBOX360 game type)then it could be huge. But if not, it will not sell as well.

What you gotta remember is that when you announce new hardware, you want to seep info to the consumer to build hype.

I am in no way bias. I actually have a prerelease xbox360 thanks to my uncle who is in a pretty high position in the xbox team. Im pretty sure it will be popular, but it is not practical & is just a product which fails at trying to scare nintendo.

I know you have an Xbox, it's just your tone made you sound like a Nintendo fanboy. You kept saying stuff about how it is only a toy, it won't work, and how problems will arise, etc.

Natal is just a gimmick. Not sure its going to be a big hit. Maybe MS is realizing that.

Natal sounded exciting at first but now it seems like BS. The fact that Microsoft hasn't given it a release date (yet Sony is giving their wand one) leads me to believe that they will release this natal technology on the NEXT Xbox. They only announced it to create sales for the current Xbox.

it sounds like a gamble on microsofts part. nintendo has nothing to fear?

i may give project natal a miss whether it be in this generation or in the next generation of gaming. i would like to see some dataon what funding microsoft is putting in behind this ambitious project so we can make an evaluation on whether it will make or break project natal. however, the proof will be in sales figures when i think about it.

perhaps gamespot will provide that information in due course. i'll shut up now.

ahahaha i seee.....i....ummmm...apologize for my fanboyish tone. Its just that i dont see myself playing GOW3 with Natal anytime soon. I never said problems will arise, i siad it wont work with alot of the hardcore shooter genres. My reason for saying this is because the Feild of View for the camera seems to be 75*-60* based off of the techdemo we all saw, and it isnt large enough to see our whole body. maybe only 75% will be visible most of the time. GOW requires running and if it cant see our legs how will we even move in the game. Second i do not see full motion capture controls ever happening this gen and the next. Famous 3D animation studios like redeye have special devices that cost $20,000 in order to do such things. Example: hiding behind your chair makes you hide in GOW. never happening. Moving your arms in a turbulant fashian will not make the gun fire. In order to do these things you will need the special devices redeye uses & some extra accelorometers aswell. Its impossibel at this moment in time for the consumer base. Sry if i sound like a fanboy again. I will still be getting natal, but im not gonna hype myself in hopes of getting such features in my games because i know it will not happen.

I saw a trailer where there is a woman talking to boy on tv and he's answering and all, looked cool....think of all the abusive stuff we can do.

what if they provided a gun to scan? maybe a FUNCTIONAL lancer for GOW3? =] to use with natal i mean, man if they made a REAL lancer that actually fired live ammunition... i'll go fight the horde myself:twisted:

Well, If you watch the Jimmy Falon clip (I know i said kimmel, it was a typo) It shows them pushing their FOOT down to floor it In Burnout... so it can scan the whole body... whether this is good for FPS is say no.

I don't see why they should feel threatened.

First of all MS said that it was a project, so it may see the light in 1 year, 10 years or in 100 years, it's just an idea they are trying to see if it's possible to do.

Secondly Nintendo owns the market right now and that won't change at least on this gen, maybe next gen... but I don't see the point in throwing away your wii in order to buy an xbox with its PN for just a few games....

You may say that the 360 has better graphics and more power than the wii, which is true but if gamers have been playing with their wiis since launch day I guess they don't care bout the graphics at all.
