I'd like to buy an Xbox for some of the exclusives, but I've been looking for a after market Playstation (like) controller for the 360. Basically I've been playing on playstation systems since before dualshock and it's the layout I'm used to for consoles. I've played xbox 360s at friends of mines houses and I have some complaints about the controller. What I need is a controller without the massive battery pack strapped to the back and I need 2 analoge sticks down below. It doesn't have to be wireless but it's a plus. Does anyone know of anything like this? or know of an adapter that will make the DS3 work with the system?

I prefer the 360 controller. The controller really isnt that big of a deal for me though. I played ps2 for about 4 or 5 years and transitioned to a 360 controller just fine. I wouldnt worry about it too much. I play both ps3 and 360 switching between controllers and there really isnt a difference. The only common difference is the trigger for shooting, but it makes sence on both controllers.

How about this.

http://www.madcatz.com/mlg/360_controller.htm

The sticks and the D-pad are swappable. I personally prefer the 360 controller, so I'm planning on getting the PS3 version of this and rearrange it to the 360 layout.

Yeah, I read good reviews for the 360 controller... but it appears that they screwed up the PS3 version. I need to investigate a little more.

Yea the battery pack does create a problem for me too hence I use a wired controller which is the best IMO...but even the ones with the battery pack is not bad though .. I can say that when I game for long hours onPS controller i get spasm on my fingures but on xbox its perfect, but after playing for long hrs on the xbox controller I felt they have really come up with something perfect except for the D-pad.

Madcatz controller is awesome :)

The PS3 controller's triggers are horrible and do not fly for shooters. Trust me on that one. Its lightweight body is also terrible and it feels like a piece of plastic in your hands. The analogue sticks are too close together and your hands do not sit in a very comfortable position because of it. The Xbox 360 controller was designed for comfort and performance. I don't know why you'd ever want to cheapen the thrill of playing an Xbox by buying a cheap third party controller designed after the PS3 one.

Um, because I like it? I've been playing on a PS controller for more than 15 years so I'm quite used to it. I don't like the squishy r2/l2 buttons either tbh, should have kept them the same as the dualshock 2, but it's looking like the madcatz has xbox like triggers anyway. (I should note though that playstation tends to like using r1/l1 as triggers anyway not the spongy ones in back which I assume are for racers.) I also have a preference for lightweight controllers, I'm not the only one either, many pros will take out the rumble to make it that much lighter. I hate the position of the analoge sticks on the 360 contoller and I hate the concave tops on the sticks, I like them closer together and down at the bottom. I get it, you like the xbox 360 controller, that's great for you. I need what works for me though. also I'd hardly call a $100 MLG endorsed after market controller a "cheap 3rd party controller" I'm sure you'd feel the same as me going the other way and would want a 360 like controller if you were buying a ps3. Not really sure why my prefrence on this keeps being questioned when it's simply a preference and not one that I feel will be right for everyone, just for me.

its very rare for anyone to choose the ps3 controller over the xbox controller......unless that person ONLY plays 2D fighting games!

You know what I mean by it.. it feels too light in my opinion. It literally feels like a flimsy toy in your hands. It doesn't do well for the immersion factor of gaming. I've owned a PS1 and PS2 before so trust me I'm not new to the Playstation controllers but I have gotten a much better feel out of the 360 controller. I really think its design is very close to perfect (I don't really like the d-pad but oh well). To each their own I guess.. but if you ask me getting a Playstation controller for the 360 is a mistake, especially since you'd have to go through cheap third party ones.

I am an Xbox Gamer because I prefer the controller more so than Playstations. I love the controller, and the more competitive multiplayer which is debatable, but I do own a PS3, and have owned a PS2, and PS1, and had many games for each of them. It's you're taste but to answer the question, I don't think you'll find a Xbox controller similar to a Playstations because each company wants to be unique and not the same as it's rival.

Just stick with the Xbox 360 controller when you get one; I find that it has a better feel to it.

I have 5 consoles (had many more but they got too old and now I use MAME and MESS ;) ) but only currently use the 360 and PS3. So I've used a bunch of controllers (and for PC). I prefer the grip and weight of the 360 controller but that's about it. I much prefer the stick and button layout of the PS3 controller. My hands are symmetrical so I want the f'ing controller to be. Why MS chose the layout on the 360 controller I don't know - my only guess was not to infringe on a patent but it was too late for them to change once they released it. After a few hours I feel the strainin my left hand. Liking the options of the Madcatz! Considering picking one up.

Why does it seem typical that almost nobody on the Xbox board wouldn't want to help OP.

>This entire thread

>I liek the 360 controller bettar

I'm sorry I really have no suggestions other than to search for after market controllers that would be compatible with both systems.

Why are loads of you guys saying totally unhelpful stuff like, stick with the 360 controller or even questioning why he wants / likes the ps3 controller at all. You're not gonna change his decision. He clearly likes the ps3 controller. Why you trying to change his opinion? Do you work for Microsoft or something? lol ....Anyway, non of the questions is going to get him any closer to finding a link / company that actually makes these controllers.
