purging the cache?

so i tried this yesterday so i can make my kotor game work better on my 360, and when i do the code (x, x, LB, RB, x, x) it says "do you want to perform maintenance" so i do it, but is that what "purging the cache" is? also ive tried that thing where you restart your 360 with a game you want to "individually purge" and hold the a button until the main menu of the game, and it doesnt seem to do anything? any help or tips would be appreciated, thanks.

cache is like...data that was stored, so next time you try doing the same process it allows it to run faster. The stored cache takes up space, so all you're doing when you clear the cache is open up some space, meaning, less clutter. It's not that big of a deal is it?

im just confused because when i do it it says its performing maintenance instead, i wanna know if anyone has done the a button thing though.hughami
