Quake 4 is on sale for only 15 bucks on gamestop right now and i was wondering if it was worth it. i also wanted to get FEAR since it was 35 dollars, but i don't want to use that much money. are they worth that much money, especially Quake 4?
Bought Quake 4 for PC and liked it alot. I would definitely say it's worth $15. FEAR was pretty good too, but the PC version's multiplayer is free, which makes me think if you even THINK you have a computer worthy enough you should try that first.
Here is an honest opinion. I just beat the game yesterday. This was my first time playing any Quake games. One it is a good game, decent story(I really did not know what was going on because I did not play 1-3) But I still could follow it a little bit. The graphics are good, but the biggest downfall is load times. When you die, you wait a while for it to load up. Some spots I would die in a couple seconds of play, I would have to wait at least a minute or so just to load my game back up. But other than that, it is worth it. I paid $30 for mine. And I fell it was a decent game for the price.
I feel FEAR is worth $60 bucks so getting it for $35 would be a great deal. I only played the Quake 4 demo but I thought it was good but nothing special. Worth $15 dollars? Yes.
Get Quake 4 for sure at $15.00 I paid $50.00 for my copy, its a good game, pretty difficult and you get Quake 2 with it. I would wait on FEAR just because the price is only going to continue dropping so it should be getting closer to 20 very soon. But if you have not checked out Condemned for the 360 i highly reccomned picking that up when you get Quake 4. Its only $20.00 brand new with this summer days promotion. Condemned is so fricken scary its amazing.Â
Playing through FEAR was incredible...the first time through. Unfortunately, after playing through the single-player once, going back for a second run is, well, boring. The story loses its enigmatic quality, and the scares are no longer scary. That being said, the combat is still great, no matter how much you play. Unfortunately, this stellar combat just doesnt transition well over to the multiplayer portion of the game, due to the lack of slo-mo. Though this game definately has its strong points, replay value is limited, making it tough to shell out the money for the game, considering that you can finish it in a few days. In my opinion, its a rental. Still, if you feel inclined to purchase the game, you won't be dissapointed.Â
As for Quake 4, I have no frame of reference, as I have not played enough of it to make a recommendation.
