I believe you need the original content disc of Final Fantasy XI. You can buy the newly released version that has all of the expansions and the original game. I got it for real cheap online. PM me and I'll tell you where I got it.
Yes, you need the original version of the game which is why it's called an expansion pack. I have seen a bunch of copies of the bundle which comes with everything around at Circuit City, Best Buy, and Target for $29.99.
