Question about free gold with Slim purchace?

I just bought a new 360 slim. It says there is a free month of Xbox Live Gold, but there is no code in the box like I thought there would be. My question is if I recover my Gamer Tag do I still get it? I have not tried it yet because it's only a month and I don't want to activate it yet until I've played a bunch of Reaches single player

Well yeah you can still get it if you recover your gamertag.

On the plus side there is a 1 month free trial for a gold membership on xbox live. Its your option if you want to try it or not.

Ok thanks, thats good news. I know you can make up to five differant Gamer Tags and each will have a free month. I thought maybe I would't get it since I've had Gold for a while, plus I used the free month on my old console already

I hate to burst your bubble, but the 1 month trial is available to brand new GamerTags on any console with an internet connection, it's been this way for quite some time now.

well, the code isn't on a standard card or anything. there should've been a flyer advertising gold in the packet with the instruction manual and the code is written on the bottom of that.

I bought the new slim and didnt need a code for the free month for a new gamer tag I was able to do it all from the console without the need of any code I dont know about using it for previous gamertags
