Please could anybody tell me if I could play Halo 3 online with my 256k internet connection? I really need to know. Speedy454545
Nobody knows how laggy playing Halo 3 will be because it isn't out yet. To be honest, I don't think you would get the best out of it with that connection. You could maybe play but it might lag a lot, especially in a big game.
ok listen , if you live in USA , and you dont mind if you can never host games , then you are cool , but!! if you live out side USA then you should really upgrade to at least 1Mbps .
i live in saudi arabia and when i host a game it runs cool with saudi people i play with , most of them have 256 and 512.
but when a foregiener(spelled wrong) joins a game he feels a lot of lag.

EDIT: and i heard some people said that Halo2 never lagged because it runs on special servers and i heard some rumors about that Halo3 will be the same.
I used to play people from America in Gears of War all the time and got no lag, hope its the same for Halo 3.

you should get lag , at least bullet lag , dont tell me you dont get that because i get it 24/7 on gears of war.
Nope sorry. I never used to get any lag at all. Only thing I got was disconnecting from the host every now and then. Cannot remember any lag at all.
you know what bullet lag is, right? when you shoot the wall the bullet hits the wall after like half a second , but disconnecting from host is worse than any type of lag , try to upgrade to at least 512Kbps because it makes a deffrince.
halo 3 is going to lag with you if your getting disconnected on 4 on 4 gears of war, for one the maps are way bigger then gears for your internet to process and most rooms are going to be with 16 people, doubleing what gears has, also if your getting disconnected in gears you get bullet lag alot, you just don't pay attention, so if i was you try halo3 out online see how much you do lag with a full room of people that is remotely near you, then try out of the country if any possible( i know random generating rooms because the online ranking rooms sux to pick ) if you can bare the lag power to you if not upgrade to 512
Nah I dont care about hosting games. All I care about is playing Halo 3 relativley lag free. I dont mind the occasional lag or occasional disconnection from host.
As long as I can play Halo 3 with not much lag I will be happy. Hopfully Halo 3 lets you choose what server you want, because I will need to be on an Australian server most of the time.
