Okay so I woke up this morning and went out into the living room and the wife tells me I have the "rings of death".  I look at the 360 and sure enough it has three blinking red lights. This seems wierd to me because my 360 was off all night.. So I turn it on and the lights go away and it starts up like normal. I played a few games of R6 Vegas and then turned it off and turned it back on and still worked fine.

The only thing I can think of is that I had my play and charge plugged in and it was charging it while the xbox was off. The light on the cable was red so it was getting power somehow... I hope this didn't damage the 360, I just assume it was giving the lights because it didn't know where the power was going?.... If it happens again I am sending it back, as it is only 3 months old. Anyone else have a problem like this?

It could've been a slight power surge, my friend had a similiar problem when the power flickered once.

I thought I heard thunder last night..... lol that would make sense. I really hope it was just that. Just in case I will buy a better power strip.

If you heard thunder, than that's probably the reason. I was using mine and a flash of lightening occurred. Obviously seconds later there was thunder, which made my system shut down and give me the 3 red lights. So, the next day, I started it up, and no problems. A year later, still no problems. So, I think you're fine.....for now.

Never heard of it.  Sounds like you don't have the problem, I wouldn't worry.
