ok, this morning i was playing Double Agent for a few minutes before i left for the day...I picked this game up a while ago for 10 bucks and it does have some scratches so i did expect some problems.

i was playing, and I went to connect to a computer, like you do a billiooooon times in the game, and it froze.....I waited about a minute, and it was still frozen, but I also couldn't connect to the guide....nothing at all was responding

so now I was 100% confident that i was going to get teh RRoD...so i restarted the 360 and it was fine....

this is the first time I have ever had a lockup while playing 360 and i have never had a heating issue either, the console was cool to the touch

So my question is: Do you guys think this was a sign of RRoD to come? The console is less than 2 months old and as i said, i've never had a problem

or do you think its the disc? As I said, the disc did have some visible scratches and smudge marks...i just wanted to see if it would work before i returned it.

It could be the disc, but it could also be the console. I have had this happen with games that aren't scratched, but (Knock wood) I have not gotten the RRoD.....yet.

There are alot of things going on in the console while you are playing, it very well could be a scratch in the disc, that is in a load area, so when you try and load that area (or screen for that matter) it cannot finish loading and causes the game to freeze.

There is a possibility that this is a hint of a future serious problem with the system. But as I stated this has happened to me on only a few games (CoD4, Rainbow Six) niether are scratched, and I have just ejected the game, turned to console off, and restarted without a problem.

One thing you can try to see if it is the game, is hit the green "X" button and see if the dashboard screen shows up, this tells you that it is more than likely a disc issue and not a system problem.

hope this helps.

I dont know if its just me, but I think xbox live has something to do with it. It sometimes takes ages for the guide to load on my xbox, and if put a game in while it is still loading it sometimes freezes.

I dont think its a sign of the RRoD though.

A lot of games tend to freeze from time to time so there's not much you can do, maybe try getting your hands on another copy if it doesnt work at all.

I did hit the X to try and load the guide....wouldn't come up

nothing would come up, it was RIGHT in the transition between the game and accessing the computer though....which somewhat makes me think its the disc.......basically, i'm standing there, everything is fine....I hit access computer, and the screen goes all fuzzy like it always does before you get into a computer, it says accessing and thats it....stays there

check your cables and try different games right after these lockups to see if it happens again. If it does then the RROD is coming.
