I don't recall having this problem with my first gen xbox 360 headset.....Is it that I am losing my hearing or that the headset it comes with not work so good? I turn it up all the way but I can barely hear people lol... Anyone else have this problem? What headset would you recommend me to get?????

Yeah.... your not alone. I bought an elite after having used my old xbox to death and when i finally got around to using the actual elite headset (after about 3 months from original purchase) as the one i was using beforehand died, i noticed that the sound quality is really lacking compared. i also hate the new mute piece, it being like half way up the wire makes me actually need to move my hand off the controller to mute/unmute.... rather annoying.

I agree on the mute button. It is quite annoyng during game time. Which headset would you recommend to get?

Honestly, i'd try and ebay an original. none of the mics now are very good. I stopped using my wireless because the sound quality was off, now it would seem the wired ones are in the same boat. And they all require you to take a hand off of the control to mute/unmute.

Just buy a new one it's worth it. I had the one from the box then replaced it after to many problems happened. Like i'd have it plugged in then it would unplug by itself.
