Hello everyone,

I have a question i think of buying a wifi adapter to my xbox 360 but i am not sure if its worth it.

I got right now a about 6 meter long cable from my router to my xbox and my wireless access point and router in the same room with the xbox.

So i was thinking maybe having a direct wifi connection to my xbox would increase the speed perhaps ?

What you guys think?

Thank you looking forward for some usefull answers.

With an ethernet cord you will have a much better connection then with wifi. With the wifi connection some of the signal will be lost. It all depends on how long your modem is from your adapter.

you can't be connected by both and be using "both." This goes for pcs, and any other consoles. If you connect both, you are only connected from one or the other. So if you have an ethernet cable and a wifi adapter, it'll just use one or the other.. I'm not sure if that's even possible what you're suggesting (and if it is, not for the 360).

edit: to be a little bit more specific, let's say you have an ethernet cable and a wifi connector on your xbox. You're going to be getting internet from only one of those, you can't be getting internet from both at the same time.

What i am basically trying to say here is.

I got a 6 meter long ethernet cable from my router to my xbox.

I think of replacing it by an xbox wifi adapter because it would cut the distance but i wonder if it would make it faster then the long cable or not.

oh in that case, no. Ethernet is almost always better than wireless.

ethernet is always better than wirelss because no data is lost with wireless data packets can get dropped. That being said routers these days are pretty good and as long as you have a good connection to it (4 or 5 bars) you should be okay. At that point the speed of your internet is still the most important thing. Now if your in your basement or something and are only getting 1 or 2 bars that's def a problem and will cause you to lag.

For me, my wireless connection is just as good as having a wired one. I do feel that downloads can be a bit slow sometimes, but I don't want to have to go through the trouble of moving my 360 out of its normal place just to connect it to the modem. The only problem I've had with with the wifi is that it took about 2 hours to download Halo 3. Other than that, it works fine for me.

Ethernet cable will always work better, I'd recommend it.
