I really want to get an Xbox 360 and currently plan to do so but I keep hearing that I have to have an HD tv to really enjoy the graphics of games like Oblivion or Lost Planet. I don't have an HD tv and probably won't get one anytime soon so is it still worth it to get a 360???

Yes. I didn't have one untill January 2007 and I bought the 360 in June 06. A 15 inch round tube T.V made me happy. and I played most of oblivion on that T.V. It looks great no matter what. HD helps and if you do get the chance, buy an HD T.V.

you really dont have to, i mean it will look a lot better on HD but it will still look great. And if you really want HD buy the VGA cable for 360 and play on a computer monitor; it will look pretty sweet.

Yes, play games for gameplay, not graphics.

I don't have an SDTV that I have tried my X-Box 360 on... I bought a HDTV about a month before the X-Box 360 came out, so I have no idea, but I will say this... I can't imagine myself ever buying an SDTV ever again.........

i bought my xbox about 4 months ago and been playing it on my 20inch standard tv. gears and rainbow six vegas look good as well as fight night round three. but i know that these would look even better on a hd tv. which ill get very soon. get the xbox and save up to buy the tv later on.

Hey, just like everyone else said, its worth getting regardless of what type of TV you have.  The games are worth playing period.  But I have to admit, HDTV looks amazing... I just got my Hi Def TV two weeks ago, after 16 months with my 360 and College Hoops looks like a new game altogether!!!

K thanx for all the responses guys. I'm just gonna get a 360 and try to save up for an HD tv later. I know that graphics aren't the most important things about a console-I am the proud owner of a Wii-but I was a little worried that I would spend $400 on semthing that wouldn't even look good on my tv. Thankfully, I'm glad to hear that the games still look good. Thanks again guys!

Deffinatly dude, just buy it... It's great, just make sure you have a two year warantee because an average X-Box 360 has a good chance of getting the 3 flashing red lights of doom after the standard 1 year warantee... You can play it on a SDTV, but it is well worth it to save up and get a HDTV.........

I've only played on SDTV and love it. The games are what really count, and there are a ton of great ones out there. I'm sure the HDTV graphics are better, but SDTV graphics are great too. Plus Xbox Live adds a lot to the experience, with downloadable demos and cheap Live Arcade games and TV shows and movies. I was apprehensive at first about spending the money, but I've more than gotten my money's worth. Maybe one day I'll get to experience it in HD, but for now it's still great!
