hey um i was ready to buy an xbox and some people say you have to have either xbox live silver or gold is this true
my first post.. well im a uk resident and want to import an Xbox from the US but im not excatly in the know and i jst wanted to ask you guys out there if the xbox would work in the UK with our games or would i have to buyUS games?
OR is the Xbox universal?
OR what specifications i need to look for when importing from america to know if its compatible?

No, you don't have to hook up your 360 to the internet if you don't want to.
However, if you do, you will automatically recieve a Silver subscription which is free. You can do anything with this except send messages and play online. A Gold subscription costs a set fee per year ($ 50 for US, 60 euro's for Europe of 40 pounds for UK) and you can then do anything with it.

I think you would need some sort of power converter since they use a different one in the US.
Other then that, you would need to get NTSC games which aren't available in regular stores in the UK. Those are PAL region coded. You can get NTSC games off sites such as Playasia.
well for a room like mine its 60v but my mum says it can go up 2 200v but it depends on the size of the household? whats it for?
oh i see! darn nabbit i was hoping to take advantage of the current exchange rate. theres no way to convert the xbox here?
