Ok I'm a pretty low level (3) in Oblivion, and basicly use a sword that I got from killing this girl in a quest and it sucks!  Is there a good sword that I can steal or maybe buy thats really good but not over 2000coins!?  Kinda like the swords those elves use in the Arena that are cool lookin but very affective!  I'm sick of those stupid weapons I steal from the A fighting chance and Slash and smash!

The higher your level, the better weapons will come. Be patient, you don't always have to buy swords. You usually find the great ones.

At that low of a level, there was an ok one that I usually got. It's in Imperial City Market. Talk to the shopkeepers and eventually you will find out that they are weary about one of the owners. That quest will give you a sword called the debaser when you kill on of the bad guys. Not only is it pretty good, but it's one of the few that have abilities that early in the game, and that is somewhat easy to get.

Oblivion is all about exploration. Join the fighter's guild, and explore the countless mines, caves, abandoned forts, etc. There are tons of very formidable weapons to be found, so just playy the game and get better. By the way, many will tell you that they "finished" Oblivion once they completed the main quest. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are SIXTEEN gates to Oblivion, and you must find and close each one! Some say the gameplay is around 100 hours; it is likely more around 300 hours to close all of the gates, and cpould problbly go to 1000 hours if you complete all of the quests. It really is the only game you need until ES 5 comes out!

yeah i wouldnt buy a sword cause its pointless to do so early in the game. just travel around the imperial city beach fighting crabs until you level up a couple times or explore easy quest. once you level up you will run across better stuff.

lol, theres not THAT many gates you gotta do, there are way more on the map than you actually have to go into. i finished the main quest at around 55 hours, and now im at around 75 hours and am still finding new gates, but they are closed since i finished the main quest. anyways, the only way this games gonna make my file go over 100 hours is with shivering isles.

Level up first, better swords come to you as you play.  Did you join the blades during the main story line.  The kitana they use is pretty good to start with.  I started a new game and my level 6 character right now uses a pirate sword, a cutlass, which has an attack of 5 I think.  As you level up you get better weapons, and you can tell by what they are made of.  Worn out iron is the worst.  The best I ever got was a sword made out of glass.  It looked pretty sweet.

battle royale was such an f-ed up movie. And yes the part where I actually freaked out was when she stabbed his crotch. That was the worst thing I have ever witnessed....other than Alexander. That movie was bad.

I have that sword and this blackwater blade (both run out of power easy) (To retain the black water blade is sleep in the cavern in the Imperial city docks! Then wake up and you'll find out lol) but yea

hmm best swords are Umbra and Umaril's Sword. They do 33 and 31 damage for me, respectively. I wish there were a lot more variety in the weapons, something more like diablo 2's weapon set, with gems that can be socketed and all that. now that im done with the main storyline and just adventuring to find new places, i see the same few weapons over and over and over. Hopefully shivering isles does us all good and has more than just a couple new weapons and armors.

Yes, better weapons come with levelling up, BUT, your Blade skill has a major effect on how much damage it causes. Hence, you might have a steel longsword that does 4 points damage, but it's capable of 12 points if your blade skill is high enough.

Weapons are available at the following levels..

Level 1-IRON, level 2-STEEL, level 4- SILVER, level 6-DWARVEN, level 9- ELVEN, level 12- GLASS, level 16- EBONY, level 20- DAEDRIC.

Obviously this excludes quest items you may recieve. Magical items are available at TWO LEVELS higher than their non-magical counterparts.

I'm only a smart arse coz I've got the manual.....
