i just bought the gamestop component cable to play in hd on my 360. I didnt open them yet but i saw user reviews on them on the gamestop site and it says it dosent have a switch to switch over to HD so it actually dosent run in HD. Should i return these and get the microsoft branded cables?

These are the gamestop edition cables: (read the reviews the customers wrote on them).

Yes take them back - just get the MS branded one - or ones from a high end cable manufacturer (such as Psyclone or Monster).  Really the MS cable works well - if you want extra shielding or ultra quality in the cable check the other two I listed - but there won't really be any difference in image quality.  PS- Psyclone is available at BestBuy, but they're like $70 for the cable, so just go with the MS one unless you really need the extra shielding.

:)

Just use the standard component cables that come with the 360 or find them use, they work the best, when dealing with video and digital optical signals its best to use the name brand stuff.

on the ms cables, there is a small switch to change the video feed for either hd or sd televisions. vga wouldn't have it because, in theory, a vga cable is capable of any resolution, depending on which monitor it is hooked into. and, don't take this too seriously, but your avatar is the single most annoying thing i have ever seen...

Just because they dont have the switch doesnt mean they are not HD. I have Monster component cables and they dont have an HD switch, but they dont have the SD connection included with the cable like the MS branded ones either.
