Question regarding the HD-DVD and overheating

So we all know Nyko's intercooler isn't the best thing since it uses your console's energy and can then cause RROD but does the HD-DVD addon works the same way? Because if it does wouldn't it be dangerous to even use it?

Its a hardware fault which cuases the RROD, the cooler just makes considtions more likly to fail. The HDDVD has nothing to do with the unit itself bar a USB cable.
