ok so my dad ordered an xbox 360 arcade for me and i have a question. i know it doesnt come with a hardrive. i know it comes with 256mb of memory. my question is, roughly how much space is it, like how many games.

also just to let you know im not getting live or downloading anything. im not really a hardcore gamer. i get like maybe one or two games like every 4-6 months. so im not going to have alot of games to begin with. im planning on getting Fable 2, Need for Speed Undercover, and Halo 3 soon. then ill just get what i can. so for someone like me, roughly how long do you think it would take for me to need a hardrive for it? and roughly how many games can it save without a hardrive?

Well if you update to the new NXE I think that is about half of the total memory you have. Also with the rest you could probably save a few games, I'm not really good with this. Also I think you should really get a hard drive sooner than later it'll be worth it.

you can get a refurb 20GB HDD from Microsoft in light of the NXE for only like $29 via xbox.com with your Arcade's serial number. I got mine with a free one via Black Friday goodness :)

Most game saves are less than 10MB, 256MB will work just fine for someone without using Internet. However, you will not be able to use any of the Rock Band track packs or anything else that requires copying to the hard drive. I would highly recommend the MS deal for a refurbished 20GB, it's a relatively low cost and gives you the flexibility to handle things in the future.

You'l be fine with the 256MB card and since you wont be getting live you have no need to get the NXE and even if you decide to you should be just fine with just the memory card for just game saves and game updates. If you decide to buy xbla games or want to play backwards compatible Xbox original games though you will need a hard drive for those.
